Instructions are here to install the 1mobil app, which then allows you to install some non-amazon apps, including the CR app, without rooting. Amazon thinks it is incompatible with KHD, but it works fine for me. The only odd thing I can see is that it always starts in portrait orientation, but that's minor because you can turn it later. Another helpful app is ES FIle Explorer, and if I remember correctly, you may need that to do some of the .apk file installations. It doesn't have everything, but it does have some additional ones otherwise not available. The important thing though is that with 1Mobile you do not have to root your Kindle and void the warranty.

Edit: The CR app has become available in the Amazon Appstore now for KF HD...

I just got a samsung galaxy tab 3 8.0 and the video quality is sub par. We also have an ipad mini in the house and even though the ipad mini has a lower res screen it looks significantly better. I'm guessing that the android tablet app does not support HD streaming.

I didn't want to make another topic because I like to actually lurk before posting, but is CR planning on releasing their HD videos onto the CR app anytime soon? It's not that i'm dying to have the HD versions, but it just seems like a waste for a tablet to be able to have 720p+ quality and the highest the CR app can go is 480p.

Edit: My tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1

No timeline.
We've only just brought on a new Android developer and he's getting acquainted with the existing app / getting out updates for other problems across the board.

Hopefully the HD gets implemented, I have been a member of CR for a year now (going for 2 since I just renewed my sub for another year) and the sole reasons I subbed for CR are HD and the apps of it

One thing I would really, really like on a future version of the Android app is a menu option to change the language of the videos, instead of relying on my system language. I'd like to keep my phone on my main language (french) while still having access to the english content on Crunchyroll.

Agreed. I always watch my anime with English subs. Android should at least follow my default language setting, but an option to choose the language inside the app would be even better.

I just got a Nexus 7 fhd a few days ago, and the video quality is noticeably worse than the iPad app. On the same WiFi network, videos on the iPad look sharp and better than 480p, but it looks like upscaled 360p on my nexus :-(

The encodes for the Android app do indeed top out at 360p.

Encodes for iOS top out at 480p.

Though if I side load the android flashplugin and use Firefox for android, I can watch 720p streams from the desktop version of the Crunchyroll website.

Flash itself is not as stable anymore.. but it works well enough. At 720p though, the Nexus 7 FHD does get quite warm near the front camera, possibly because that's where the processor is.

The site linked below (Least if links are allowed) has instructions which still work.

Guys, use the website not the app.

You can stream 1080p on Android devices, just download a browser that supports flash and enjoy.

It works perfectly, no crashes.
