Have you played an Ys game? If so, which is your favorite? Why? On which platform did you play it?

I have played Ys Origins (PC), Ys The Oath in Felghana (PSP), Ys Seven (PSP), Ys Chronicles I and II (PSP).
My favorite is tie between Origins and Felghana, although Origins is probably a bit better (if only because of its story). It was nice to see the story from a first-person perspective, instead of mute Adol.

Also, Ys has the most incredible video game music. Ever.

I really enjoy the series; it's a lot of fun. Wish I was able to play more of the series (would be cool if XSeed released Ys Seven on PC through Steam). And I do agree; the Ys soundtrack is simply amazing. Yuzo Koshiro's music has always been excellent. One of my favorite scores from the Ys series is "Palace of Destruction."

I've played Ys Book 1 & 2 (Turbografx CD), Legacy of Ys: Book 1 & 2 (DS), Ys Oath in Felghana (PC), and Ys Origins (PC). I'd probably say that Origins is my favorite of the series. I liked seeing the different points of view from each character, as well as each character having their own unique attacks and abilities. Still, I also have a liking for the old-school Turbografx CD version too.

XSeed might eventually release Ys Seven for Steam, but wasn't that game made solely for the PSP? I know Felghana was originally a PC game so that made it easier to remake into a PSP game, I think. (Don't quote me on this, I could be seriously wrong. I don't know much of anything about how compatible one platform is with another.)
The game I'm waiting for the most is the next Ys game for Vita! Seriously, Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta is honestly the only reason I'd hurry to buy a Vita
Of course, the Legend of Heroes series is another reason as well. God, I just love Falcom. They have to be my favorite developers right now.

Yeah, Ys Seven was designed for the PSP. I have heard of a PC port that was released in China though (think it was earlier this year, in fact). Well, I'm just hoping to see more Ys games on Steam in the future, as there is still Chronicles and the Ark of Napishtim that have had PC releases in Japan.

I did catch a glimpse of a trailer for the new Ys game for the Vita and it does look very impressive. It's just a shame that I really don't have the funds for a new console at the moment; well, maybe things will begin to look up later on.

I've never played Legend of Heroes though. I have enjoyed the Ys series a lot thanks to Falcom, I would like to play some of their other games... Looks like the English releases of Legend of Heroes seem to be on the PSP though (a system I do not own). Ah well, that's the breaks I guess.

While Ys is all well and good,i think it's time for Falcom to start moving the series forward. I know they just released SEVEN and Foilage of Celceta. But i want to know what happens after SEVEN,not go back to when he was 19 years old doing his adventures in the sea of trees.

Im just saying that SEVEN was a good step forward as Adol was 23 in that game. And seeing he retires at the age of 50,i want to see the rest of his adventures as he explores the world while progressively getting more old and experienced.

Not that he already isn't experienced. He's got like what...3 gods under his kill belt and numerous murder machines.

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!? OH MAN! I bought this game (Ys: Origins) completely skeptical if I would like it or not and about 3 weeks ago I started it. I. AM. IN. LOVE. It is so much fun! The music gets me pumped and emotional and I'm like "Holy cow...this game..."

I haven't beaten it yet...I'm like 3 floors from the end with Hugo. I find him very annoying...but i'm glad his character has developed some. I can't wait to try more...I've got Oath on PC and I'm thinking about buying the other two on the PSN :)

Yay!

I'm a latecomer to the series, only deciding to take the plunge when the games hit Steam. I mean, seriously, 15 bucks for Felghana? Who could resist? Certainly not I, haha! Anywho, despite my late arrival I'm quite smitten with the series, and I hope XSeed can get the license to localize Celceta next. It's my most wanted Vita game right now!

Do you have a PS3? Because you can play PSP games on the PS3. And by the way, Falcom just released the first Legend of Heroes for the PS3-- in HD!!! Saw it in an e-mail from Playasia. I hope this means Falcom will take the rest of the series and put it on the PS3 (and God I hope XSeed localizes it, or I'll have to marathon Japanese study )

The Legend of Heroes is so good that you really must play it It's up there as one of the very best games I've ever played.

The Ys series doesn't really have that much story though... that's not really what a lot of people play it for. It's the gameplay and music! I hope Falcom never retires the series

You think Hugo is annoying? I thought he was at first, but then he grew on me. Maybe I'm just a bit sensitive, but when that sad incident happened to him, it was so touching and, well, seemingly out of character for him. I like how complex of a character he is. I can't wait to play "The Claw". Have you played him yet?

Omg, buy everything the PSN has to offer!! I wish there were more Ys games. You won't be disappointed, I'm serious! (And you'll be doing yourself a huge disservice by not playing them.) I highly recommend Ys Chronicles I & II, just be prepared for that Ysy difficulty (and some things that just do not follow, meaning you'll need an FAQ or the good ol' people at gamefaqs).

You absolutely must get Ys Chronicles I & II. I'm serious. And Ys Seven, a game many people loved, but I think Felghana is better.

I played Ys III back on the Genesis but nothing anymore recently. I've been hoping to go and playing Ys I & II on some retro console (NES/Turbographix/etc) one of these days.

Love their soundtracks though. I have collected a few of them.

I played the original one when it came out and up to 3 I think. I used to think that the half-character attack thing was the most awesomest thing. LOL
