Depends on the anime, I have 4-5 friends that like anime all of varying degree. I like pretty much all of it but some of the cutesty stuff I watch alone a dirty pleasure of mine. I was recommended HOTD but from the cover and reviews way to much fanservice for my taste.

I remember back when I was an anime scrub (had no idea wth 'subtitles' were) my friend let me watch some Prince of Tennis with him....dat awkward moment wen a romance scene plays -awkward silence- haha but I think he got really annoyed wen I kept asking questions lol, I could never really remember those guys names

it depends really. I try to match their interests with whatever anime we're watching, so I'll watch harem anime by myself (hehehe <3) and then leave the really awesome, emotional and intelligent storylines for my friends who I think would appreciate it.
Not that this directly relates to anything, I just imagine that watching Nisemonogatari's toothbrushing scene would be pretty embarrassing to watch with someone you don't feel 100% comfortable with. It just calls for a really awkward moment... Especially if you didn't see it coming.

It depends on the people and the anime. I watch a fair amount to myself, but get together with some friends to laugh over some good ole favorites we enjoy. Coupled with good food and drink >XD lol.

depends on the anime for me if it has allot of ecchi scenes than definitely alone but if it has not that much than i don't mind watching them with others i even watch anime with my friends sometimes when there over since they like anime aswell but i still watch anime mostly alone so it just depends if i want to wtach anime with other people or not |

Anything particularly emotional or ecchi I would want to watch on my own.
I do watch around 3 hours a week at my university's anime society so it's not that I don't like watching in groups, but definitely prefer alone.
