I'm not sure if it was already mentioned, but down here in Australia we have coins for $1 and $2, for as long as I have known. They are gold coins — actually smaller than most of our silver coins — and I must say it's quite cool to have gold coins. I like to collect a pile and feel like a pirate. Our bill money is also made out of plastic, so it doesn't crinkle up over time and it goes through the wash without getting damaged.  |

I never saw any need for a bill smaller than $5.
Electronic cash might hopefully resolve the issue - and I don't talk about credit cards. More something recargeable like pre-paid phone cards that can be used on each and every thing, including those damn vending machines!

I have never understood the dollar bill, over here it's all coins until 5's and has been for a long while now.
I cant imagine carrying so many notes, I mean notes are wallet money but anything up to 2 quid is your pocket change.

good..american dollars suck anyway. green and wrinkly and ugly. seriously.
but i love collecting money/currencies anyway. geuss i gotta stock up on those ones. maybe they become valuable/colectible someday or in the next century.
im not sure why the weight of dollar coins would be a problem...i mean, go get some change why you would be carrying over a hundred....who knows?

We here in Canada use a coin for our $0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50 (had one a while ago, though I think I lost it. got it from the mint), 1.00 and 2.00 coins. It's actually a lot better than bills (though we have new, plastic bills coming in).

Dollar Bills do not last very long, since the material being a form of paper and all. So, if you are going to collect them, and try to sell them. Best to not wait longer than 50 years, or so.
