What if Pokemon were a serious show?
|
I would watch it, simple as that
Don't you guys remember that anime promo for the Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 games? That seemed to be way better than what is on TV right now (that Best Wishes where Ash never grows up and will most likely never win in the end, spinoffs not counted) It's like the show itself is a filler Rant over |

I always pictured a live action pokemon movie, and it was serious in tone.

I'll be honest, I'd love to see a serious version, but it would need a lot of work. A lot of great work, too, if it would intend to be a long running series. I would prefer they touch all the main points and keep it focused rather than trying to work a lot into it, though. Not sure if 52 episodes would be able to cover it or not, but I think that would be close to the ideal number of episodes it actually should be.

They should have stuck with 150 pokemons and focused on Ash's journey to the 8 leagues or whatever, I can't remember now, haven't touched pokemon for years.
Instead of bringing new maps and pokemons all the time. I thought the 150 pokemon season was brilliant. |

If he ever becomes a pokemon master YES I WOULD!

Replace the two main characters with a yuri couple, and the two members of team rocket with a bishie yaoi couple and I'll watch it.

If it hadn't have a never ending plot and it didn't just drag on and on and on... Then I think it might have been a decent show. I liked it at first, but then I just got tired of it, I mean every episode feels the same. It's like "Oh *a random person/pokemon appears(or) Something happens* I never met you before, but somehow I feel the need to help you! story goes on... someone of the main gets it tough... they get through it... CHALLENGE COMPLETE.. happy ending -.-" and then + the Pikachu kidnapping -.- (I don't know if they are in the new series, but all of those I've seen are like this) Every episode, I swear -.- There are those two-three(where the same thing is focused) side episodes, but those are always in series.
But it's just my opinion:P no offence to you pokemon lovers out there:P |

I had a discussion about this with old friends back in 1998 and new ones now (while drinking with buddies near the university apartment complex XD) if this was a serious show, I'd watch it. Though, it depends on the company to allow such a task.
If Ash was replaced with Red and have Blue thus Green as the original rivals, would Red be alone to go against them or will he meet friends? I doubt they'll have Misty and Brock tagging along with him. Plus, no doubt in my mind he'll be with a pikachu. You just have to have pikachu, not having one would be a WTF moment. Would the three Team Rocket characters be in this serious anime, replaced by different characters or none at all. Would May, Dawn or some made up character be love interests if they make the series for Red to travel to Hoehn or that other place... ?And the biggest questions of all, would he win the indigo plateau and those other Pokemon Colosseums? Will he be a Pokemon Master, and in doing so will he face Blue or Green to achieve this goal or to make thing interesting, facing his long lost 'father' to become Pokemon Master? I wonder about this sometimes XD |

The problem with the show as it is is not really that it's a long running series, it's that it's a long running series because there is no foreseeable end. As long as the games keep coming out and the writers have ideas we won't see it end because he'll need to quest for each new release, so we'll never get a proper ending. I also think that the point to become a Pokemon master should not include catching every single one, but rather show in ability to effectively train each Pokemon that he does get into a companion that can beat nearly every opponent. That and knowing exactly how to care for his Pokemon without the urgent need for a Pokecenter. |

Thinking of that makes me laugh for some reason. |

I'd watch it. Anyone read "Pokemon Master" by Ace Sanchez? If it was a serious anime, I would hope they make a season for his fanfic.

I don't think that it was necessarily bad that he stopped by and helped out people in need, but it got too repetitive for me<.< If they had mixed it up a bit more I would be okay for a long series, but they didn't do that very well in my opinion:P And about the catching every pokemon. Yeah, catching all pokemons my ass -.-!! I would just punch myself to see how many pokemons he just let loose cause it was in some sort of trouble -.- Sure there are plenty of mew's and zaptos and so on <.< (even though the balance between the three/four, I know about it *the movie* xD But yeah still -.-! ) |

Ash would've probably dated one of the chicks he was with.
I swear to god that boy just hasn't hit puberty yet. Wow. |

Yo, guys. Probably watching junk or ruining your topics. Don't mind me.

If they take the plot from the Pokemon Adventures manga, it would've been so much better.

No.
That would just be wrong in so many ways... |
