I find far more evil in the Westboro Baptist Church, personally... Then again, that whole family is trolling personified.

I do know plenty of Catholics that supported both types of these laws here, so while I can agree that there are many things one can call out about an organized religion, the same might not necessarily be true of its followers.

Yeah. I don't think you want to know what I know about RCC. I think you going to think "Bullshit!" about what I know.

The bold part: Yes, I agree.

Not arguing the point one way or the other. I just don't consider it relevant to the point I was trying to make.

I agree with you that there's not really any good reason to make pot illegal, but I absolutely hate the above statement. Go smoke some nightshade and tell me there's nothing wrong with a natural plant -- one of the most infuriating arguments I've heard. "It's natural, so it can't be bad!" Bullshit. "Natural" poisons exist too, dude. People have the strangest leaps in logic sometimes. Of all the legitimate reasons to make pot legal, it bothers me to no end that people hang on to the shitty ones. Anyway, I'm glad it's starting to get legal.

I agree....they thinks okay to worship a guy in a funny looking hat...aka the pope. pope can't forgive people of their sins only Jesus Christ can. Mary doesn't answer your prayers...only Jesus answers your prayers. that two false gods they worship.not to mention their pagan holidays they started. they get ideas out of something that's not The Bible. you can include mormons in that list. I read online that in one version of the bible they translated...they removed revelation 17. which talks about the Whore of babylon. there's so many dots that you can connect in that chapter....that's it's most likely refering to the RCC.

also this is a good article that talks about faith.

I'm not going to derail this thread, and counter all these arguments. But as a Roman Catholic, I will say that what you have said are things that people say due to a lack of understanding of the Catholic faith. You may take this up by PMs with me if you wish.

The list of people who are evil according to Dr Manhattan:

'Zionist Jews'

Roman Catholics.

Pray, why is the Roman Catholic Church evil? You can make a statement, especially a moral statement, without substantiating it. More importantly, on what basis is your particular definition of 'evil' founded? Is the statement 'The Roman Catholic Church is evil' objectively true, or is it true on in context of the speaker? If it is universal, that that mean there is a universal set of morals that is applicable to everyone, to which you are, apparently, privy, and which allows you to make that judgement- why, what makes your particular morals right, and the morals of institution such as the Roman Catholic Church or the Westboro Baptist Church wrong? Until you can substantiate your statement, your statement is unfounded, and so, false.

As for the new laws of Washington- the only reason why it was possible to persecute people for indulging in pot and marrying one another is because there were laws against it in the first place.

Don't really care. I'm not a weed smoker and I don't care for weed smokers, but I'm kind of glad this passed. A report stated that this will bring in an additional $500,000,000 of tax revenue to the state of Washington annually, and they wouldn't have to spend any money trying to get rid of it. A law like this passing in other states would help a lot, too. I'm just worried about the increasing number of potheads that would undoubtedly be driving around when laws like these pass in more states.

Oh, right: and about the gay marriage? That's awesome.

I was raised Catholic.

Unlike a disproportionately large amount of fundamentalist protestant denominations in the US, there was never a time in my entire life when I was told by church officials to judge and hate other people, and damn them to hell.

I decided ultimately that I may not believe in the Hebrew God or the divinity of Christ, and that too many bad things have been done in his name. So I have left the church. But I don't look back on my time as a Catholic with any ill will. Maybe it's just because of Vatican 2, but all I remember is being taught about forgiveness and love.

But that's cool. All throughout my life I had holier than thou people talking down to me about the evils of Catholicism ("YOU AREN'T A CHRISTIAN!" "YOU'RE GOING TO HELL!)". So I'm used to seeing comments like that.
