So I took it upon myself to make a thread about this game so... YEAH!
I couldn't help but notice this isn't necessarily at the top of everyone's "must-have" list, understandably so especially given that this game has wildly uneven difficulty and Hayashi continues to prove that he has nothing on Itagaki.

The easy difficulty is called "Hero," and it's geared to those who don't like getting killed from battles, at all. The leveling system and this don't go too well together, cause as soon as you reach the critical point on your HP, the game will start protecting you but penalizing your karma points for being a pussy; basically fucking you entirely on getting any karma which is used as a way to acquire new techniques and skills in the game's skill tree.

On normal, the game doesn't shit around with you, the aforementioned hero mode is best used as a way to deal with the downright hard as fuck (and even cheap) boss battles in the game, along with very overly aggressive AI that will relentlessly chase you down and wail on you on later chapters in the game. Be sure to use it sparingly or else you'll feel a little empty for doing so. However, many people on Miiverse have said that the game's antagonist--who sounds like Liquid Snake and wears a phantomish mask as if his plastic surgeon botched it up big time--is so fucking cheap, you'll practically be forced into a hero mode tapout just to get past this barricade to see what the game will hit you with next.

Some [added] appeal is in the two upcoming DLC characters; Momiji and Kasumi (yup, Hayashi went and finally added her, I almost don't want to slap him as hard now). The release dates haven't been revealed yet and this is just as frustrating as the game itself as Momiji is supposedly being released this coming week, and Kasumi arrives sometime before or after the end of the year. No official release dates (not yet, anyway) Also, they say both DLCs are free, but giving TN's track record of charging insane prices for Dead or Alive 5 outfits, and their half-truths regarding "free content" in the game's beta version on 360 and PS3 (DON'T BUY IT IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!!), I'm thinking maybe the initial download is free, and then you get charged later.

Whew ok so, I don't imagine a whole lot of people here (judging by the Wii forum) purchased this game, but for those who have, share your pain!

Razor's Edge was the main reason I bought a Wii U. I'm a long time Ninja Gaiden player (100% completion in Ninja Gaiden II and Ninja Gaiden Σ2) and I was exceedingly disappointed in "vanilla" Ninja Gaiden 3.

Razor's Edge is much more fun to play both in terms of mechanics and due to the added weapons and characters (can't wait for Kasumi!)

Currently I'm just playing through the Chapter Challenge modes on Hard difficulty. I will do a Master Ninja and Ultimate Ninja run after.

Oh shit! Razor's Edge was the main reason I got a Wii U too! Even if I knew Sigma 3 would (very likely) be released next year for the PS3/360, I still would've bought it cause I'm insane and impatient like that.

Momiji kicks untold and untellable amounts of ass! Even with those... things heavily weighing her down! Pretty hot too if I may be disgustingly honest here. Unlocking her 4th costume was downright murder but I had a good partner and at least he got something out of having to revive my attention-deficit ass so many times. I was forced to become way too awkwardly comfortable in the leader missions in doing so. But I've been using her non-stop since she came out.

My skill isn't all that great and probably never will be but oh well, that's me.

Whoa, the dude I was doing trials with was named Maverick-Hunter!

I can't wait for Kasumi either, should be a few more weeks (I'm just throwing a guess here). Even though this "Team Ninja" is completely different from the team that gave us Ninja Gaiden 2, they seem to know what we want at least. I hope they fix more of the glitches in the next patch.

Heh, he's on my friend list. I know him from a site called ninjaarchives.com. That's a hangout for Ninja Gaiden fans which was created after Iberians NG Realm ceased to function.

I haven't tried the co-op yet but I'm looking forward to it. I played hundreds of hours of the co-op in Ninja Gaiden Σ2.

I noticed some problems when using Momiji that her attacks are slower than their reactions to them, rendering many an approach to landing combos that have a lot of erm "quick" attacks almost pointless. Usually I try to put some form of variety in the combos, but it's very difficult to land a good flow of anything other than short combos using her.

I know the game very heavily emphasizes enemy strikes and grabs over the player's actions but damn, I'd like to think that stabbing someone through the ribs with a naginata would yield just a little more than a half-second twitch and retaliatory strike immediately after... Oh well, back to using the Y Y X X X (press-release)-X as the longest combo I can reliably land I guess.

Maverick-Hunter was an excellent ally in helping me obtain Momiji's 3rd and 4th costumes in the game. You need to do 25 trials using her to get the first one, and 25 more to get the next. The 20 Acolyte trials weren't a hassle, most of the 20 Mentor ones were reasonable, then come the Leader trials (have to finish at least 10), which I would suggest using the pro controller for, as the gamepad's supposedly a real bitch to replace.

Getting Kasumi's (yes they placed her into the game too now) was much harder. She's fast but this being her debut, I think she could use some adjusting.

It's difficult to say. Let's get this part out first, this game is merciless! Not quite as much as the first two - this game is merciless in another way and I think I've bitched about it in my previous posts. The first two games were reliant on mostly the player; you fuck up and you're dead. Adaptation and reaction time is a must.

This one demands luck but skill is still important, patience is especially a must. The enemies were boosted up in a very lazy fashion, it feels like they just ramped up the attacks, speed, defense, and especially invincibility frames very high, with absolute disregard to what weapon you're using and the AI reads your controller input. Wanna get that 3-hit throw kill combo in? Not gonna happen unless you spend some time wailing on the guy first, kinda defeats the purpose.

The AI grabs you a lot, and most of the time they are invincible when doing so! The only way to deal with this problem is to use the revamped "steel-on-bone" move where you see their arms glow red, dash the fuck outta the way, and hit strong attack to counter it and sever their balls off.

Other issues such as terrible recovery time, sluggish controls, framerate drop, and the AI attacks magnetizing towards you were obviously not on the huge list of fuck ups they needed to fix.

...Other than that it's a decent game at best. But if you've played the real Ninja Gaiden games (i.e. not this one), it won't compare at all. The Miiverse community doesn't have the balls to acknowledge any of the games uncountable shortcomings which has fooled a lot of people into buying it.

Real big Ninja Gaiden fan, huh? I'm assuming you'd rather play the classics, right? Or are the other two Team Ninja Ninja Gaiden games pretty good? Haven't heard about those ones as much.....

The first two (and to some extent, even the Sigma version of the first) were the real TN Ninja Gaiden games and were very good, and the difficulty was legitimate and demanded your attention. This one demands you have some skill, a ton of patience and most importantly; a shitload of luck.

This is what happens when a company loses its visionary who is replaced by an incompetent director, becomes consumed by greed, and has completely lost all passion. This is Ninja Gaiden's Megaman X6, basically.
