It's got to be Chihayafuru for me. I really loved the characters, intensity and beautiful presentation. I can only assume that people aren't mentioning it because it started in last year's autumn season.

Other great shows that ended this year are Humanity Has Declined, Kokoro Connect, Daily Lives of High School Boys, Acchi Kocchi, Mysterious Girlfriend X, and Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. I don't really want to guess where Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! will go, but I doubt I'll end up enjoying it more than Chihayafuru.

Its obviously Fate/Zero. I really don't know why ppl would say SAO is number 1. Compare it to Fate/Zero. It's like night and day. SAO belongs in the trash bin. At least Fate/Zero didn't have a cop out/dues ex machina ending like the first half of SAO.

A tentative list:

1) Sword Art Online - I know, it's got major problems, but it's still wholly entertaining and an undeniable hit.
2) Space Brothers - Still unbelievably underrated; anyone who hasn't watched it yet, needs to. Right now.
3) Kokoro Connect - Thoroughly enjoyable despite its flaws.

Still waiting to see how Psycho-pass and My Little Monster play out. Won't include them until they've finished (though My Little Monster will probably kick Kokoro out of the 3rd spot).

I also see Chihayafuru being mentioned quite a bit - I won't include it since it technically started in 2011. Same with HunterxHunter.

EDIT: Shout-outs to Kids on the Slope and Tsuritama, too. Tsuritama is a personal fave of mine, and wonderful in its own right. Kids on the Slope is a great drama, but didn't quite stick with me the way others this year did.

No particular order:

- Sword Art Online: Could've been better but still a solid and good story worth watching.

- Dusk Maiden of Amnesia: Great drama & romance and 'Requiem' easily wins for me.

- Kokoro Connect: Interesting idea and nice troll in Heart Seed. Wish it could have another season but oh well.

Would've put Shinsekai Yori and Blast of Tempest but neither are finished as of yet.

Irrelevant side note: I'll take a "Kirito" over a "Kiritsugu" any day of the week.

Fate/zero
Daily Lives of higschool boys
And I can't pick a third one.

Everyone else is wrong.

I respect your opinion, but you're burning in hell. jkjk. That is an incredibly controversial thing to brush off as a side remark though. It's like you're pissing people off as an aside. I approve.

To be honest its a 'side point' that isn't related to the core of this thread at least thats what I meant with the 'irrelevant side note' part. And I wouldn't have even mentioned it if not for this:

1) SAO - Animation visuals were brilliant and the story gripped me.
2) Fate Zero - Battles were epic when they came, story line original. My only downside was the ending was a bit confusing but caught on in the end.
3) Accel world - Something similar to SAO but I found it funny and the hero was a bit different from what you normally see, a fat guy getting the most popular girl in school? I guess there is some hope in the future then haha (I'm not fat btw), but it was a good story.
2012 anime was brilliant I'm going to admit that, hopefully 2013 has got some more beastly Animes along the way, thank you very much Japan!!
