Well most of my friends like animes and mangas, so i guess it brought us closer because of a common interest... As for my family, my parents don't care either way. My sister was a little put off at first but then she started watching animes with me and loves them now. She is also interested in starting mangas. So I guess it is bringing us closer.

My brother said i was lame and nerdy for watching it and was against it. I bribed him to watch one episode of full metal alchemist it from then on FMA was our show. then we started watching DBZ. I got him so addicted to it.

Parents are always at work plus I'm a only child.
Aside from my home being completely "haunted" at least you don't get any wide-eyed stares coming from your family and siblings when they "accidentally" walk in on you.

Heck... at least I get the benefit of enjoying anime by myself.

Yea I know what you mean my sis is at college so basically only child and both my parents work in a hospital so only time I see them is during dinner unless my mom went in early for surgery then I see an extra 30 min of her .... But I like my life style , it makes me independent and value human contact but it sucks when u watched all ur animes and u can't find any new good ones but u also get to be as creative as you want all the time with no fear of getting weird looks
Lu's it made it easier to come out to my parents cuz I would not see them as much as a normal guy would but to answer the original question ...... My friends like anime and my parents couldn't give a crap all they care about is that I'm being exposed to a different language

I am the only one in my family that's into anime. My siblings think anime is nerdy. Some of my friends like it, some don't. It's not a big deal.

My dad don't care, literally he asked "You like those asian cartoons?" Me: "Yup." Him: "Cool."
Moms reaction was a tad surprised and freaked out, she knows i'm an odd person so she wasn't really negative about it. My brother rolls his eyes at my "Crazy asian stuff."

Their reactions to my interests is quite entertaining.

My parents don't ask about the posters in my room, and I don't watch anime in front of them.
They're also gone for work most of the time, so one day while they were gone I introduced anime to my siblings. They love it.

My friends know I'm into anime and they don't mind. I've got a couple friends who are otaku as well so I'm good.

When it comes to other people in my school and anime in general, you can kinda say its towards negative. My teacher called conventions 'a place where complete nerds get together and make fools of themselves'. I'm still holding a grudge toward him for that. Then when I said I've been to a con, my classmates gave me weird looks. In any case, I don't care what they think :3

My friends love anime and my a large portion of my family thinks most of the anime I watch is a spawn of satan. Ever since I was caught watching Dokuro-chan...they find lots of anime I watch "offensive" my mother likes anime though and she's able to understand the plots of anime and grasp it. Its really nice to watch anime with her..just not with the majority in the bloodline.

my friends and family dont really care cause i've always watched pokemon and naruto, but when watching other shows like the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya or deathnote, basically shows that aren't on tv here they think im a bit strange but thats probably because i am.
