I've done a bit of research, it should be talked about a lot in next months playstation magazine, but they're trying to do virtual reality, hopefully we'll have our own SAO so far they're made a headset for it that can be used for any game system and pretty much makes it look like your watching a 62 ft hd tv with surround sound in 3d, but since we've had the technology from the kinect and move for a while, maybe they'll have a complete virtual reality system ready like in SAO within a few years. Not sure if I trust this site, but they have some info and vids on it.

SAO tech is still several generations away, the upcoming tech for the 720 and ps4 is going to be closer to .Hack. Hearing and visual but using a controller.
SAO tech is a long the lines of brain machine interfaces, the stuff being researched for quadriplegics and patients with partial paralysis. Direct interception of the signals the brain sends to move your limbs, to be able to move prosthetic limbs. But SAO takes it a step even further taking over all 5 senses.

Hooray more technology that I won't be able to use without getting painful headaches.

Now comes the question of how much the PS4 would sell if it had it...or would we all be a bit worried to try it from seeing how SAO started.

The mental trauma will come. It'll be like the movie 2012. THE END IS NIGH BUT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN...its like deja vu back in 2000.

The technology in Sword Art Online is way more complex than Xbox Kinnect. You actually believe you're in the game and can move freely, this means that the sensory part of the brain is manipulated. They will actually have to insert a nanochip into your brain to conjure images (like in a dream), and somehow allows you control the data within the game and then paralyse your muscles for the time you're in the virtual reality environment to prevent yourself from acting out your actions within the game.

I think I've said this before in another thread, but Virtual Reality is not going to be possible within our lifetime.

We have to fully understand everything about the brain; especially the sensory parts, and then... get neuroscientists to work with gaming engineers.

The product in your link is not Virtual Reality technology; it's more like a compact projector.

What you guys have got to realize is that with this, we may not be talking about true VR but it comes pretty close. Wont be like SAO, but it'll be pretty outstanding compared to what we've got now.
