i know thay our looking into that technology but it would be generations away and i mean many generations away thay haven't even started working on the playstation 4 because there is no tech advanced then what is available now thats why the ps4 development hasen't even started.

I've done a bit of research, it should be talked about a lot in next months playstation magazine, but they're trying to do virtual reality, hopefully we'll have our own SAO so far they're made a headset for it that can be used for any game system and pretty much makes it look like your watching a 62 ft hd tv with surround sound in 3d, but since we've had the technology from the kinect and move for a while, maybe they'll have a complete virtual reality system ready like in SAO within a few years. Not sure if I trust this site, but they have some info and vids on it.

well if u see it this way Stephen Hawkins has glasses that reflect the light from his retina to a little computer in his glasses which speaks for him we could posibly be on the verge of "VR" and its just around the corner

Don't get your hopes up bud. You got a bit longer to wait for that.

Lack of punctuation made what your said almost impossible to understand. But there IS better tech available right now than what the PS2 is using. And no, true VR tech really isn't that far off. Maybe a couple decades. But not as far as you seem to think. Do you have any idea the rate at which technology is advancing right now?

Moore's Law everyone, SAO style VR may be only a couple of decades away. We already have stroke victims manipulating the internet with a chip implanted in their brains. While I can safely say it will NOT be on the PS4 or 720 what those systems will be capable of running should be pretty awesome nonetheless. I'm down to check it out if the price is right of course.

its all what you consider vr, but SAO tech is a long way, think before that we would have to understand the signals coming out of the brain almost instantaneously and reproduce all 5 senses and control functions , to even fave this tech to moove a digi character is in itself a feat, now your asking that we not just understand and can interpret everything about the brain and now modify and beam all of it back to you. even with mores law supercomputers right now couldn't complete such a task and thats just computing [which is not really the problem ] its beaming it back into you . but who really knows when or if that's even posseble...?

PS4 will be like Btooom! technology. Shit's just a game system and folk have controllers in their hands but they imagine themselves as being in the game. We aren't anywhere near something like SAO. SAO was a non-intrusive hijacking of someone's nervous system and allowed a computer to directly feed and receive sensory data to and from the brain. We're nowhere close to that. Not even remotely.

When netbooks can do realtime software rendering that makes Transformers 3 look like crap and not even use 2% of the computing power, developed worlds pump nanomachines into newborns to auto fight/repair and injury or infection that the body handles, and when 1,000,000 terabytes seems like a ridiculously limited amount of RAM to have on a cell phone, maybe then we'll be a place technologically where a really shitty virtual fighter looking version of SAO isn't impossible to imagine if the best programmers and scientist in the world work together for a decade straight.

To be honest the faster the better but I would guess from sometime between 10-20 years. Honestly look at the technology from ten years ago its really quite a shame.

My concern is how the mechanics of it will work, people are physiologically and physically different, creating disadvantages if game play were to base it off of those real attributes of people. Though it would have a larger impact socially, there's going to be less people showing up to work that's for sure. Of course I would think the gaming industry might want to delay or cease research and development, because they make extra revenue from the selling of controllers, bulky consoles, and other accessories; which I think with the sort of VR tech as depicted in SAO that we surmise it to be is all of those combined and less profit for the industry.

Then think of the development time and process for the games. I wouldn't be surprised if it took them maybe a few years just create the virtual equivalent of Pong, seeing as how human movement and action is complex and isn't limited to gameplay parameters (i.e. scenario of a gate in the way, when logically you can scale it), they have to think of contingencies to prevent abuse that would detract from the experience, even if player action made sense. If there is going to be VR someday then the industry and developers have to adhere to infinite potentialities , real world axioms and human nature.

Undoubtedly they could also make a sort of controller based device to bridge and accommodate individuals with health concerns or limitations.
