I thought Anime was the best thing since slice bread when I first stumbled across it and thought I would die an old man loving Anime, but anyone else feel as they got older they sorta started losing interest in watching Anime? I'm not saying I hate it but for me it's not as good as it use to be. I use to be excited to come home from school and the first thing I would do was watch the next episode of Naruto or something and time would fly by. I just don't feel the same way.

Just watching the newer Anime titles; take for example Sword Art Online, I have no idea how people find this Anime in any way, shape or form amazing.

I mean I wouldn't completely stop watching Anime as it has been a huge part of my life. I feel like I've watched all the 'greats' and can never find that sense of nostalgia since I first watched Trigun, Death Note, Cowboy Bebop or whatever Anime.

Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

I felt that a couple months ago and so I stopped watching anime and took a break from it. Im barely getting back into it just recently and I feel like Im starting to like it more again. Also, those months I stopped watching it helped either new episodes of ongoing anime i watch to come out and pile up so that i have something to watch now or new ones to come out.

I been there, and gotten past that phase. I still watch/ read anime, and I still love it. But, once I was 'busy' offline and I need to do something VERY important, like Acing my exams. I will have then developed a sort of 'disinterest' in anime, or mostly anything. After doing and completing my task, even in the middle of class. I will then jump right into a anime, and watch it. But, now...I do both, in the same time. Now, I never get a disinterest in anime, ever.

So, either or....This might be the same for you, or not. But, either or....yeah

I've been watching anime for over 30 years. I've never started to lose interest, and I never will. I always try to keep an open mind about new series, and rarely ever drop one after I start it. I also re-watch series I enjoyed, and catch those little details I may have missed the first time around. I can be cynical about certain things in my life, but choose to be very laid back in regards to the things I want to enjoy, so that I can and do enjoy them.

Perhaps that's the problem here. People let themselves get too cynical, too critical, and forget why they enjoyed these things in the first place.

At one point I felt like this, but then I started to become very open about the anime I watched. I used to stick with the "Big Three" when I was a kid younger, but realized their was a lot more to anime than that. I've pretty much been watching anime my entire life and could never tire of it.

I always keep an open mind and will watch just about any anime out there. From the ridiculous to the simple, I just keep watching and enjoying. It's definitely best to go into an anime with a fresh look on it. If you go into it thinking "Yeah this is most likely going to be just like all the other harem, action, romance, slice of life, etc." then you will not enjoy them and become overly critical.

Too much of something gets stale after awhile. Perhaps if you broaden you genres of anime that you watch that'll curve your growing boredom.

Taking a break from it for a little while would surely help. I definitely don't feel that anime's quite as good as it was when I first really started to watch it, but I still love it lots. It's rare for an anime to affect me like they used to, that's for sure.

Sigh. Another one of these threads.

Look at it this way: Why on earth would you ever believe your tastes wouldn't change? Why on earth would you believe that all anime is great?

Anime is like anything other form of entertainment. It's like books, movies, TV, games, etc. You'll find some titles are good, some aren't, and a very few are amazing. You'll also find that what you like won't match with what other people like. If others find SAO amazing and you don't then so what? Enjoy what you like and don't worry about other people.

Go take a break from anime. Enjoy something else for a change. But, in the future, don't place unreasonable expectations on an entertainment genre as a whole. There's no way it will ever to those kind of expectations.

Putting this whole thing aside; can't this be said about anything in excessive portions?. even sliced bread would lose its taste if eaten every meal, every day its the simple "have too much of a good thing it becomes nothing" factor.
Also I never liked SAO The LN nor the Anime so.

Also Also not liking SAO is my own personal opinion, you can like whatever you want.

I still enjoy anime, however I've grown more picky as too what I like. I've also grown found of several american cartoons, such as Adventure time, Regular Show, My Little Pony Friendship is magic, etc. Do miss several of the old cartoon network shows no longer on the air as well.

Give this a try, look up / research the director of the anime movies / series you like. I've found my tastes seem to follow along certain creative teams. Crunchyroll / other video on demand allows me to sample / try various anime to see if I like it.

Watch what you like, don't waste time on what don't like, even if the amount of anime you watch goes down. On the flip side, I'm buying as much physical anime as I can when I can afford it, I've learned a lot of anime just disappears and gets really expensive to buy down the road.
