So, I just decided to try it, and I bought it. I have played it less than 10 hours, and I have already thoroughly enjoyed it. It has really good boss fights, characters, side quests, story, gameplay, combat, stat system, and item creation system.

Now, after finally playing this game after seeing it constantly since it came out, I haven' t come to understand why it' s so underrated. There is a lot of hate, as well as praise- but more hate, for this game, and I just don't see why. Could someone give me some outside opinions so I can further understand?

That refers to the PC version of the game. Probably not the issue on the 360 version. I only played the first one but I didn't really care for the combat system (those timed sword swings ) and the sidequests were more interesting than the main story which isn't saying much. It got to a point where I was plowing through everything just to finish the game. As for part 2, maybe... someday... but the story isn't compelling me to try it any time soon.

i absolutely love the witcher 2! The reason i loved it so much was that IT WAS DIFFERENT than the other AAA rpgs like dragon age or the Elder Scrolls. it didnt get boring, the game was super difficult at times, the combat was smooth and brutal, choices dramatically changed the out come of the story. and yes there were hardships at times, like the game glitching up during combat sequences, and the occasional looking through the riddling handguide to try and find out where to go. but on the other hand there was depth and storyline that added to the enjoyment of the game. intead of just running through hordes of enemies like an indestructable force, you have to use traps and defense spells to make your way out of tough places. All in all i loved it and enjoyed playing a game ive never heard of. but once i saw gameplay for it i rushed to my local Gamestop to pick up a copy. I know that not every gamer would like it. They werent going to like it because they couldnt be the amazing hero that saved every body from certain doom or the unstopable force that destroys everything in his/her wake. Gamers quickly got bored because they had to use their brains to strategically deal with theirs foes. But me, i LOVED this game and i would play it again in a heart beat -if i didnt lend it to my friend of course- but the rating id give The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings would be, a 9.9/10. 9.9 because of the hardships that i stated earlier

Because it's not a simple easy game.

Also, it takes quite a lot of 'getting into', personally I love the game, but I didn't immediately get into it, but I thought i'd stick it out. I probably should try and play it a bit more.
