Skimming through the previous pages (I know, shoulda done that earlier, I'm bad), I noticed that Kimi ni Todoke was brought up - I actually think that one is even better than Toradora! so I DEFINITELY recommend giving it a watch.

It was pretty good, but I'm not sure I'd say it's better. It was definitely good though.

My favorite series of this genre is still BOYS OVER FLOWERS though. That was the first manga I liked.

I've never checked that one out, I should sometime! I don't know much about it but I've heard a couple good things.

I'm giving KimiTodo the edge over Toradora! for a few reasons, mainly because I feel it avoids a lot of the annoying romantic comedy pitfalls that Toradora falls into a little bit, and it doesn't have a harem aspect like Toradora! does. And Toradora! can fall into ludicrousness at sometimes.

Well, I agree on those fronts lol, but I wish there was more of the anime. I've also heard Kimi no Iru Machi is an extremely good romance manga, though not really as an anime.

Boys over Flowers was something I really loved and it's been redone like 3/4 times by Japan because they love it so much and just can't get enough of it. It's really good. The main girl character was my favorite girl protagonist for a very long time. In fact, she still probably is my favorite girl main protagonist.

I LOVE THIS SERIES. I have rewatched this series 15 times and I still cannot get enough. I own it on DVD, and will be buying the dub as soon as it is released. You are not alone. After almost 160 series, I am still trying to find a way to cope with the ending of an incredible series. It just doesn't get easier.

The big difference between Toradora! and Kimi ni Todoke or Boys Over Flowers is the target audience. Toradora! is shounen, aimed at boys. The other two are shoujo. That is going to account for several stylistic differences that may be determining factors in whether one prefers one or the other. Kimi no Iru Machi is a fair comparison, manga/light novel wise, but the anime doesn't stack up at all.

It's true that the target audience differs, so that's a little bit apples to oranges, but I think you can still draw a fair comparison between high school romances / romantic comedies in general. There's not quite as much in common between shoujo and shounen targeted shows, but they both have a lot of the same cliches as well. Compare Toradora to Lovely Complex, for instance.

The ending of Toradora as it was, was very good and I enjoyed the series a lot but was left a little empty inside because of Ryuji's romantic choice. Great ending as it was but...

The best girl was...

Also, Taiga was annoying and I normally like tsunderes.

I always wonder how anybody could really ship anyone other than Taiga (Tiger/Tora) to be with Ryuuji (Dragon/dora) in Toradora! LOL!

Well, I guess you can ship all you like, but when the name of the story is based on two of the character's names, you really should expect that is how it will end.

It's not like I don't get it lol They made a great pair and the story was a good one, the ending is great as well and Toradora is one of my favorite shows. I just happen to like Ami more than Taiga. I just found Taiga a bit annoying that's all. Ami, yeah her personality was fake at first but they got to her real one in time which she has a sweet side and she wasn't that bad. I like Ami's character type so that's how it goes.

Kazehaya HAS a harem, its like every damn girl in the school, you just don't seem to notice it as much because Sawako is the MC.

I love Toradora! but labeling as just a happy ending is kind of deceiving. Technically it is but you endure hours and hours of heavy gut punches near the end..............then you get a sixty second brief happy ending scene after the credits. I know when I finished it I felt it took a lot out of me because I was invested in the characters. Maybe if the happy part was a little longer at the end I would have had time to wind down a little.

Watch the Pet Girl of Sakura Hall. It's a pretty damn good follow up to Toradora.
