If you think of affirmative action as racist sure. It was established for a purpose but it has spurred reverse discrimination against the majority or perceived majority race to in turn not be seen as discriminatory against minority race or gender.

This has been the topic of more well established debate for years. I doubt that Crunchyroll forums is the most productive place to have a debate on this topic. I also do not think racism is on topic with a thread about stereotyping. The two are completely separate.

Can't entirely agree with you there. Racism is the broader topic yes, but Racial stereotyping is an aspect of racism. as I believe my most recent post demonstrates.

Please do not ignore the entire post only to highlight your own skew. The purpose of my previous post was to illustrate the futility of the debate in an attempt to keep the conversation from diverging into another common debate about the relationship between affirmative action and race. The direct definition of racism (and race in general) is so broad, that each person may have a completely different idea of what the topic could be.

Let's keep the conversation going in a way that answers the question the OP had, which was "Have you ever been racially sterotyped?" using their opening statements as an example of how to relate to the OP's post and format our own responses in an orderly manner.

The OP gave an example of what he/she thought was "racial stereotyping" and most likely wanted to strike a common thread among peers. I feel that the discussion of affirmative action has little to do with " A white kid asked me why I talk like a white person..." .

As a shared experience, I have been asked by my black peers "Why do you talk like a white person?" I have been, in the OP's opinion, relating to their same circumstances, "racially stereotyped".

I work at a call center-ish job. I've been called a nigger, then the very next call told me to either learn proper English or go hop back over the fence because I'm a spic. I'm White.

I scorn people I don't like. If I don't like you, you're going to know it.

One time some guys thought I was racist simply because they are Asian and I'm white because I wasn't cool with them. The truth was I wasn't cool with them because they were a couple of douchebags.

So since you think that white people are stereotyped as the only racist people on the planet, your answer to that is to want to assume that black people are trashy, ignorant and racist which makes you appear racist yourself? It sounds like you have a serious chip on your shoulder, sir. How is what you feel any different than what anyone else that is racist feels? Some people become racist because of what they went through in life and rather than realize that they are only interacting with a tiny, insignificant demographic of people, they assume that's how all people that are in the same ethnic group behave and they act accordingly. This is why the cycle of racism will continue to perpetuate. Even if everyone was the same color, people would get thier feelings hurt and find a way to classify the perpetrators in an attempt to find a group of people to hate.

You shouldn't let other people dictate how you feel and control your emotions. A real man wouldn't allow someone to manipulate him like that.

I agree with you so much!!

Thankfully since I moved around a lot. I've had the privilege of living in all black neighborhoods, inner city, all-white neighborhoods, mixed black-white, Arabic etc. So I've been able to see the differences. People are so quick to label a race a certain way because of how a certain group is. It could just be that AREA SPECIFIC culture.

Not all inner-city people, but many do assume that most whites are racist. And many of them do experience more racism for fitting the negative black stereotype. But not ALL people who live there, fit it. I lived in one, so I know that for a fact. I also want to add, it does irritate me when someone black assumes all white people are racist. As a person who lived in all white neighborhoods, I know it's not true. As a person who has also lived near a white mostly racist community, I didn't allow (albeit it was the majority) the views of the INDIVIDUALS in there to shape my view of the world and assume that everyone is racist.

And I personally feel that just because someone was rude to me, that doesn't mean they are racist. They could just be a jerk to everyone. Granted there has been blatant racism towards me, but I ignore it. Unless you're coming at me with a noose or something, I could care less and it doesn't factor on my radar. To react, is to let them succeed. And it lets me know that they don't contain the mental capacity to think on their own, and to look at the complete picture of the world, but instead decided to be narrow minded. I lose respect for ANYONE who judges the whole, instead of the individual. I don't care if you're black, white, Asian, alien, etc you instantly appear inferior to me because you allowed a preconceived notion of someone else, or a false cruel conclusion on your part to factor how you view an ENTIRE group. It disgusts me.

Very often on the internet but in real life not really...I mean people do ask me what I'm mixed with since I have a weird accent.

Boy: Hey where are you from
Me: Here. I was born and raised here
Boy: ... Really? You don't sound like you're from here
Me: I get that a lot but I was born here.
Boy: Mixed with anything like from Europe or something? You sound foreign I swear
Me: Where were you born?
Boy: Here

As a white male, most scholarships are unavailable to me, and colleges require a higher standard to enter.
