I never take stereotypes or racism serious anyways. Even when somebody is seriously racist. It all just makes me laugh today. I use stereo types in my jokes on EVERYBODY not just one group of people even my fellow darkies I mean "black" people.
But seriously yes I do all the time. For example:
I was walking from my friends house and he lives in a Jewish neighborhood. I as walking with two other friends and we weren't even making a blockade like most teens do on the sidewalk. We was just laughing having a good time and then these two little jewish start running for their lives! They kept looking back at us with this expression like D: Mind you I am brown skin with a yellow tint, my other friend is lightskin so he is yellow like a crayon and my third friend is caramel. Far from intimidating if you ask me. So what did we do? Play the douche bag and chase after them. Man they ran fast. What a hilarious day that was.
I'm sorry but I'm the type of guy who doesn't get butthurt over things I should get butthurt about.

I use stereotype in my jokes too!

Me and my Friend and one of our co workers:

Me: Carlos, why are you such a good worker!?
I asked because this was his first job and it was at a quick service restruant and the majority of the newbies just stand around and do nothing unless they are told. Carlos on the other hand was fantastic he found things to do and if he couldn't think of anything he would ask.
Co-worker: I don't know.
Angie: It's cause he's mexican. Why aren't you?!
Me: Oh, if that's the case. I need to quit my job and go live off welfare.

actually happened often to me. I lived in japan in my early 20's and 30's. people always thought i was 1/2 japanese. I didn't mind that at all.
I had 1 woman come tell me that she was happy that a "white person" was working in the store (military commissary) instead of all those Filipinos. so i told her i has half filipino.......was fun to watch her turn even whiter and walk away...
in the Philippines, i was always treated well by shop owners because they thought i was filipino. when they found out i was white, the prices all went up.
here in the states, people mistake me for being mexican (i'm hispanic, not mexican). and often assume i don't speak english. sometimes when they are being asses, i let them assume that for awhile till i decide they go to far, then i let them know what asses they are. it's lead to a few fights. It works the other way too though. often Mexicans assume i can't understand them so say some rude shit. funny to see their expressions when i tell them to go *&(&(^ their mothers and sisters.

That's a lot of stuff you threw at me.

The topic had a question and people answered it, they are not hiding anything. I was using the "R word" to call out the SJ league's "check your privilege" crap. Your attempt to bunch up words together does not impress me, save it for the research paper conclusion.

Wasn't trying to impress you. It's just the way I communicate in text. What I write isn't always understood (see CLarose's response to something I posted in this thread previously. He totally misunderstood/jumped to conclusions about what I meant) so I sometimes get really hung up on word choice so that doesn't happen. Apparently I wasn't very successful this time either since I wasn't just addressing your post hence my choosing to quote the whole line of conversation including what's in the spoiler tags. And I didn't write anything about anyone hiding anything. I did not use the word hiding at all.
I was basically saying it's wrong for people to throw up privilege in people's faces at every opportunity which is what the one poster did, but it's not productive for people to get offended and pretend it doesn't exist when someone does which is the way the other poster responded. It's better to admit probably benefiting from that from time to time(acknowledge), but sometimes there's a negative side to that too, or say how you don't benefit as much as some may think yada yada(complain about the stereotypes you have to deal with).

FlyinDumplingBeing stereotyped. People don't like it, majority of people here don't like it, I don't like it = what the whole thread is about

Like I said before "Go ahead and complain about any stereotype being wrong". That is what the thread is about, but I also said just don't do it in a way that makes it sound like your trying to trivialize or ignore the obvious built in inequities of whatever culture you belong to, and don't get into the comparing experiences (equivocating) game. In my personal experience it just makes for a more positive discussion as would leaving out potentially hurtful name calling/terms like retarded. I don't know who the SJ league is but it's probably not necessary to be insensitive just to call them out.

ShiverGirl

This makes me laugh somewhat to this day.

Has things like this happen to you?

Please lock up if duplicate.

Someone asked me how do I remember English.

So I answered "with my brain". Just cause I'm Asian doesn't mean I can't speak good Engrish!

Lol, sadly I've fallen to this stereotyping. I think my Asian best friend is the most smart person in our grade exception some of some others, and she actually corrects my English. Though when she's nervous, she is worse than me.

Oh, certainly! even though i am mixed, people are prejudiced to my black heritage. However, most people associate me with white people because of how i act and dress, i know people who assume I'm into the usual black "things", aka rap and fried chicken >.>

I have always been stereotyped. Of course, I know a few people that have been stereotyped. But, honestly, so far people have only assumed that I was smart or Chinese. I mean, EXCUSE you. There are more Asians than that. But, really. It's like no one's ever heard of the Philippines or something. I happened to think people thought I was smart because I wore glasses. But, like I realize it was because I was Asian. Tch. Does race have to have something to do with intelligence????? Because that's just downright annoying and rude. And half the time people assume we dog and stuff. I mean, really? FRICKING REALLY?? Just because we have a pet doesn't mean we eat them. And yes, that is being stereotyped even if you have never heard of that being said.

Yes I get stereotyped all the time seeing as I'm a white female of the upper-middle class.
Life is tough I say.
