It's a daily thing.

But I get a lot of leg room on the train half the time.

I've been called a the racial term for a Spanish person. LOL
Now I refer to all the ghetto people as hood rats, peasants, or lowly commoners.

All the time...
I got my dark skin color from my mother, who was Trinidadian...If I stay in the sunlight, I can gain a black tint. Like, racially black...Most everyone has stereotyped me as a Mexican...On a normal inside day, I'm around that hue...
I've learned to let it go...I'm Trinidadian on mother's side, and that's my only racial quality worth noticing. I've quit correcting people on it...It's just so...f*cking...Stupid...
On a side note, I tried to pick a fight with a black guy, calling him a taboo word because I thought I was black...Oooooooooh, the naivete of youth...It's actually pretty funny, now that I look back on it. Got my ass kicked pretty decently.

Is being Muslim a 'race' though?

Yes it's prejudicial and ignorant to call you a terrorist because of your beliefs but it's not actually racial stereotyping... is it? there's no Muslim 'race' right?

No it's okay because actually, I've seen people get confused. and think Arab is the same as Muslim and vice versa. Which irritates the Persians I know to no end.

so.. in a way... well at the very least it partakes of the same level of ignorance.

Meh sometimes because I'm from Asia. But not really, people where I live tend to mind their own business.

My parents are Mexican...My dad works for a tortilla company I was in Stater Brothers facing up the tortillas on the bottom shelf when a African American women walked toward me and my uncle (we were the ones working the stores that day) she took a glance at me while I was kneeling down working then said something. Unfortunately I didn't hear her then she turned to my uncle and said "He's Mexican huh" ....-.- yeah these kind of stories happen to me all the time. The lady assumed I couldn't speak English despite the fact I was born and raised in CA. I speak and write English fluently, and if anything have trouble in Spanish often. To me stereotypes aren't a big deal as some people make it out to be its just a natural mechanism for humans to predetermine what people are like based on their appearances but in the end its just something I laugh off and one more story for me to share with my friends and apparently you guys on this forum.

People always ask if I'm Mexican when I'm nowhere near that.

A mixed ethnicity of German, Italian, African American, Caucasian, and Irish. As far as I know, anyway.
