This sounds like a fun contest! Maybe I'll actually be able to finish something this time.
I think I have a few ideas for a good land keychain, but I'm going to re-watch the series to try to help me come up with some possibly better ideas.

(here's the sketch)

So I decided to use episodes 4 and 8 as the inspiration of this LAND key chain since the bracelet Yamato gives Mei is such a symbolic part of their relationship. Episode 4 is when Yamato first gives Mei the bracelet and episode 8 is when the bracelet breaks. Both are a critical part in the relationship. The bracelet is more than just a symbol of their relationship, but it also represents how that whatever they may face, they can endure it, and put things back together. There's always ups and downs when you love someone, but that's part of being in a relationship. Similarly, the bracelet may break, but that does not mean it cannot be fixed, and it still holds its value and meaning for Mei and Yamato.

Even though this key is really similar to the original LAND key, I wanted to keep it simple and plain, yet cute like Mei.

not the best quality (^-^") sorry

i drew this key based on episode 7 (I really love you) the title inspired the kind of romantic design. and its a bit dark because of the jealousy that Mei was starting to feel for the first time. i like the idea of Mei being jealous, i thought this episode added depth to her personality.
the sword-like end of the key shows the pain she was feeling in the beginning and yamato's betrayal by going to megu's house
the red flower is for the passion she finally showed at the end when she kissed yamato
(she can also use this key chain to stab Megu >_<)

Here's my best shot!
I was told my description was pretty corny too haha.

My entry is a reflection of episode 8: New to love! The vivid design represents Mei's bold kiss in the start of the episode and a statement of how important her courage and convictions are in her relationship. Often timid and unsure of herself, Mei does her best to try to overcome the obstacles that gets in her way. By doing so her relationship with Yamato grows stronger much like the color gradient from tip of the key towards the heart near the end! The feathers on the key are my hope that their relationship takes flight towards a happy ending.

Magical Keychain:

Edit: And the draft in the spoiler tag.

My keychain is based on episode 5, in which Yamato and Mei find Kuro, the little black kitten Yamato now keeps. I made Kuro at the top holding two strands that match the bracelets Yamato and Mei wear with land and 20 on the ends as well as the 2 hearts on the (lock endy part...thing) instead of one because the first key with one heart i felt was a representation of Mei feeling alone, Yamato was out modeling alot, he didnt wear his key on his phone and Mei seemed to be considering giving the key away/ ending the relationship (both being the same thing symbolically). But with two hearts as well as the bracelets and Kuro; these are things which bring Mei and Yamato together. Kuro is a living incarnation of their love and the bracelets are the bond between them. So ya, maybe reading into the symbolism a bit much, but i really believe the show purposefully has all this symbolism, part of how clever it is and why i like it, so i wanted to keep that same theme going in my Land 20th anniversary Key.

I have this headcanon that after Mei’s bracelet broke Kurosawa made this. The key is an antique he found lying around his house, on which he (barely) engraved the words ‘forever’. When he was helping her pick up the pieces of her broken bracelet he slipped 2 or 3 of her beads into his pocket. He then took off a few from his bracelet and tied it to a red string, as if the red string of fate is combining both their beads (&& in turn souls). When Mei and Marshmallow came over to visit again Kuro would be sitting on his bed with key in mouth waiting for her to see it.

My key reflects episode 4 when Yamato gives Mei a bracelet, this bracelet is the symble of their love. My key represents the love between Mei and Yamato, the bracelet Yamato gave Mei is the top and middle going down part of the key. This means that their love is neverending. The hearts in the key means that it's the key to each others hearts (originally when Mei gets the key she was told that Yamato got the exact same key, which he did). The reason I chose this topic is because this is the whole point of Say "I love you". I believe it's really important to capture what this anime is all about; a highschool boy falls in love with a 'nobody' at school. What would Say "I love you" be if there wasn't a strong connection between these two characters?
I also feel like episode 4 really draws in how much love there is. With that bracelet that was a HUGE moment in the anime that needs to be covered because of the symbolism of it.
