My keychain is based on the first episode where Mei first met yamato an also the scene where she kicked yamato which was funny favorite scene lol.My key is both Mei an Yamato two keys combine. The middle with heart with the lock is Mei because to me she is like a lock that doesnt let anyone in and Yamato is the heart that has the horns because he is one that is the key that is trying to break into her lock .

I based my keychain off of Say I Love You episode 10, "Nothing Else". Each part of the keychain is in one way or another related to the episode. The sword represents when Megumi tries to “cut” into Yamato's and Mei's relationship by using Kai. Megumi tells Yamato that Kai has invited Mei on a date. When Yamato sees Kai and Mei together an argument begins that turns into a fight, a fight for Mei's love. The Teardrops that are dangling from the sword signify the pain and loneliness Mei felt because of Megumi and her plans to keep Mei isolated from everyone else. The heart symbolizes Yamato and Mei’s love for each other and the chain symbolizes the bond between them as they begin to understand each other. All together the keychain is the power of their love as they fight through obstacles that try to tear their relationship apart.

Tried my best... This is a keychain inspired by ep 8 'New to Love'. The butterfly silhouette symbolises new birth and the heart is love I thought the episode explored the difficulties in new couple relationships very well - lack of communication, high or differing expectations. The 'key' is to 'fly' over these misunderstandings rather than blame each other. xx

Hello Everyone,

My key is a representation of the most recent episode, episode 11, this is the episode that shows the relationship between Yamato and Mei has progressed to a point where they become comfortable with taking a trip together. The crowned cat capitalizes on the thing that really helped bring Mei solace and have a connection with a living being, it also represents when Yamato took a cat in and began to take care of it, the cats became a link between the star crossed couple and I made the cat gray because Mei's cat, Marshmallow is white, and Yamoto takes in the black cat, and when you mix white with black it makes gray. In the opening of episode 11 Mei wears a very cute feminine outfit which correlates the bow on my key. The buttons on the key are related to Yamato's little sister, she uses buttons for the stuffed animals she makes, and was able to grow to love being around Mei, the fact that Meh and Yamato are good with his little sister means they will make such good parents!!! There is a rainbow that wraps around the key and symbolizes the fun that they are finally able to have together after the challenges that lead to Mei and Yamato crying, thier crying in the previous episode represents the rain, there is always a rainbow at the end of the rain, and I felt that them finally going to land together was the rainbow. The stars are symbolical for the happiness that Mei finally feels when she realizes the people around her accept and love her for who she is, she is in a sense finding the stars within herself to take pride in, this is so important because at the very begining of the anime Mei is avoidant of relationships, feels insecure, and doesnt really see any stars within her very self. The wings mean that the relationship between Mei and Yamato seems to finally be flying steady. Finally the bit of the key is in the shape of a heart, a heart is a universal symbol of love, love which has the power to unlock the doors that lead to camaraderie, romance, self esteem, and genuine relationships which all coalesce to create true happiness.

I am glad to participate in this contest, and have enjoyed looking at everyones submissions. This is actually the first drawing contest Ive ever been in!! So much fun doing it. The materials I used were plain white paper, regular hb pencil, sakura archival pen, and prismacolor* pencils.

With best wishes and luck to others!!

This keychain reflects the first episode with Tachibana Mei very much armoured against the people around her and capable of delivering a mean kick to see them off. This is shown in a helmed top and a key-blade bottom with the heart kept close and guarded.

Assuming Land is a direct parody to Disney Land Tokyo, the 30 is just their 30th anniversary, which will be next year. This key is about episode 3, "If You Trust Someone..." and Yamato's change since middle school. Time has formed his persona anew and that's what the hour glass represents. The key being broken is in connection with his broken friendship back in middle school when he didn't do anything to help his friend who was being severely bullied. However with his change in character he found new friends and a new part to his key. Yamato's meeting Mei tied the ribbon (pink ribbon) and filled the void in his heart (heart shaped gem was added to empty heart that was on the 20th). And by the end of the episode two charms of trust and love were added (the two bells).

Terribly sorry for horrible quality, I was using my laptops webcam and its 12:31 in the morning here but here goes:
This Key is based on the first episode, but could be also represented in the episode when they FINALLY get together. I made the heart like a door with a lock on it, as Mei-chans heart was locked, in a way. The flames (that look absolutely terrible O^O Im sorry!) represent the ways she guards the way to her heart, like when she didn't give her phone number to Yamato because she believed he would go behind her back. I added a little diamond charm which kind of is like her relationship with Yamato, which is very special and even through the tough times (I hate that model -_-), they can break through. after all, the diamond is the toughest mineral known! Hope you like it! Mei+Yamato FOREVER!

whew, I'm kinda excited now for the winner announcement!

I was going to do this too with the first episode... Nevermind I'll skip this contest now.

Yes well this is a key made from cardboard haha. So why is it a rabbit you may ask? Simple, I noticed from the beginning of the anime (episode 1) that Mei was accused for killing the pet rabbit. It was not her fault because she was just following her "friends" orders. She then finds out that it was just a flashback but I think the rabbit represented the entire series up to a certain point. I think the "white" rabbit represented innocence, (not sure what color the rabbit was I'm guessing white)it shows how innocent both Yamato's and Mei's love is. They both are experiencing a new kind of love; deep and compassionate. I can also say that since the rabbit could not talk for defense it can be interpreted as both the main characters flaws. When they want to say something to each other they don't have the courage to so they rely on their friends. I think the overall theme of the story is looking from different perspectives on both side of the main characters as they build up courage to say "I love you" to each other.

This submission for the Say, “I Love You” key-chain is the reflection of the 10th episode, “Nothing Else”. In this episode, Mei, Kai, and Asami discuss who they would prefer to visit Land with, a group of friends or alone with a date? Mei answers with, "either's fine". This became the defining moment for this key-chain. Mei relies on both her friends and Yamato, which is why this Land key-chain would be the embodiment of her. The three fur balls representing Mei, Asami, and Aiko, are connected by Yamato’s beads, symbolizing that Yamato played a key role in bringing the three girls together. I created the loop at the top of the key-chain to match the 20th Anniversary's key using a black strap, silver links, and a silver key with a heart cut out of the teeth. In the holes of the key are heart ornaments that can be spun. There is an 'L' engraved on the key symbolizing Land and love. A charm is attached to the key with a crown from Land's mascot.

The reason why I chose episode 5 is because Yamato's little sister is/was just like Mei. Mei's class blaimed her for something she was innocent of and from then on thought it would be better not to get involved with people. Nagi felt betrayed and used by her friends and became an outsider among them.

Mei helped Nagi feel better about herself and in return she began helping Mei bake something other than weaponized cookies.
