Have you seen Pacific Rim and what's your favorite mech?
|
So some people might be aware that a movie called Pacific Rim is coming out soon. However I don't think people here know how badass it's going to be. Think about it the movie pulls from anime and classic kaiju (strange beast) movies like Godzilla, Mothra and Gamera. Hit the link below to see the amazing trailer.
So it got me thinking what is the CR's favorite mech? It doesn't have to be limited to a medium so everything is game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-ZcqwvQbas |

That looks like it'll either be really cool or really horrifically terrible. Either way it'll probably be enjoyable for one reason or another.
Favorite mech? For me it'd probably have to be the steam powered tarantula from Wild Wild West. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide ![]() Yeah the movie is terrible, but the mecha tarantula is still awesome. |

If I had a type it'd be you, fortunately I don't have a type so please stop.

I'll assume you mean outside of Pacific Rim. Hmmm I guess either Metal Gear Ray (Metal Gear Solid 2) or Delphine (Break Blade) to name 2. Though if anyone even knows what I''m talking about 'Beast Unit 9' ('Beast 9) is cool too.

I forgot to mention my favorite mech. I believe that my favorite mech is the ATs from Armored Troopers Votoms. They are simple but practical and I could see them being used in the real world. Plus there is a class of ATs called scopedog, nuff said.

Besides the fact that it is like the first high budget western CG mecha movie besides Transformers (YES). I have to see it because GLaDOS is in it even if it is terrible...lol
No seriously she is, take a look at the trailer at 0:45, 1:01, and 1:06, that is Ellen Mcclain speaking (GLaDOS's voice actress) with very similar voice alterations as were used in Portal 1 and 2. |

Yes, it is the same director that made Pan's Labyrinth. He also directed Hellboy 1 and 2 (the creature designs and effects in HB2 are AMAZING) and Blade 2, by far the best of Blade films. He's an excellent director so I have high hopes for this film.

I'm going to see Pacific Rim mainly because of GDT, but my favorite mech is Deathscythe from Gundam Wing, or I think that one is in Gundam Wing.

No, none of us have seen Pacific Rim because it comes out on July 12, so..
I don't think it'll be that good at all, but I'm keeping my hopes up because Toro did a decent job with Hellboy 2 and a great job with Pan's Labyrinth. |
