http://abcnews.go.com/US/27-people-dead-children-connecticut-school-gunman-dead/story?id=17973836#.UMuDCORZXSg

Just now I got home from school and see on the news there was a shooting at an elementary school this morning. So far, they've found 27 dead and 20 of them were kids ranging from the ages 5 to 10. The school principal, counselor and shooter were among the dead. I think that's so sick, there are so many shootings going on lately. They're calling this one the worst massacre in U.S. history. One of the parents at the scene had described kids running out of the school with blood all over them. Discuss shootings and the need for gun restrictions :/ .

Update:

They suspect there were two shooters and that one was 24 years of age and another 20, one of them named Adam (just announced his name is actually Adam, not Ryan) Lanza. The news just said that he killed his father before leaving to the school. At the school, he killed his mother Nancy, whom was a teacher there and then killed her class. This update is what I've just heard from the news so I'm not sure if it's been confirmed by police.

I'll just give the same response that I give every time there's a mass shooting.

Very sad .

I don't think the US can do anything about guns now. It's too late, they are out there and I don't see how you can force people to hand them over. Plus there are all the guns that aren't registered. Glad I don't live there.

Either way, I never thought about it possibly being too late, but you might be right, now that the guns are out there... taking them all in is nearly impossible... though over time it will ne nearly impossible to repair them I guess and all the registered ones could be taken in at least... it's better than nothing at all.

God this is accualty making me cry all over again. My school witnessed the same thing on the first day of school accualty. I go to Perry Hall High and I was in the cafeteria when it had happened. One one kid was injured but he's now back in school fully recovered. My school hasn't been the same since, we've had 3 gun scares when a gang fight happened. I want my school to do something nice to the poor kids and family and staff who had to go through something even more horrific than what I went through. Me and my schools thoughts go out to the famililies and friends.

Such a shame that we live in a world where this kind of event happens to often. The sheer fact the shooter picked an elementary school goes to show how much of a coward he really was. Makes me not even want to have kids at some point knowing that this happens. Really ticks me off that people do this kind of thing. Feel so sorry for the families that lost loved ones today, and for the kids that survived this, that are now going to have to carry this with them for the rest of their lives.

One: That is unfair as that ruling was recent and takes time to get moving with the nation.
Two: Fire arms are a felony class penalty to bring on public school ground with exception to those granted passes by the state. Those that carry these passes are armed security guards and law enforcement officers. So don't think that teachers would be having one at hand for these situations.
Three: Gun restriction is not effective in curbing death caused by a person going with intent to kill. If somebody wants to kill somebody, they will take what ever will do the job. Guns or no guns.
Four: I'd rather have a shooter than a bomber. Bombs way super easy to make, and set off. So easy, an elementary student can do it. It is very easy.
And lastly
Five: Laws that restrict gun access only affect those that obey the law, those that don't obey the law, support the gun restriction laws. Take a guess why.

I saw the news report about this earlier.

It's so sad.
What type of depraved bastard shoots elementary school students? They're just innocent kids, they don't deserve to be injured / killed / victimized by some whacko who's off his rocker. No one deserves to.

To quote someone from the comment section of an article about the shooting....

The late great United States. What is happening to our nation and our planet.

I wish people would stop blaming the guns. Blame the people, blaming it on the guns is just a way for someone to not be accountable for their own actions.

It was the gun that killed the person! Just ignore the fact that a person pulled the trigger and before that the gun was an inert piece of metal.

Also, there is more facts and statistics out there that show that an armed community is safer than an unarmed community. People whine about guns causing violence, but how many shooting victims would still be a live if they were able to protect themselves? And please, don't tell me they could protect themselves with a knife or something.

I'm just glad that the shooter is dead, toss his body in the landfill and let the rats and crows dispose of him.

Such unimaginable sorrow and loss. It couldn't have been much worse if that shooter instead walked into a neonatal ward. They were nearly just babies, these children. And those poor, helpless teachers who tried in vain to protect them who also lost their lives in the process, and the survivors who saw the whole thing happen, the families waiting in emotional agony for access to the bodies of their dead children...

There's nothing to turn this day around, no triumph or great fortune that can possibly change this into a happy day.

Being 22 years old, it is hard to imagine someone close to my age pulling off something like this. It's very sad that due to this mans insanity and selfishness, young lives full of potential were cut short. This is going to be a very rough Christmas for some of this families, and I hope they can get through it as best as possible in this kind of situation. Very sad to hear about.
