Anyone's thoughts on FFXIV and the road the development team has taken with it's creation based on your previous experience with the 1.x generation or at a glance from the official videos?

The level capping system that curved the exp didn't seem as much of a issue toward the end of 1.x as far as quest go it's hard to say how much will change

I started out a lancer, was going at a good pace.
Then I started a black mage for kicks.
In a quarter of the time I played on my lance I SURPASSED my lance.
Ok that can make sense...I guess..

My white mage took only 1/3 of the time than my lance....WTF was up with that? A healer leveling far faster than a front line melee? unheard of!
I am so glad there was a remake. I really hope they balanced out the classes. Not cool that my lancer had to stick at level or lower monsters to level without dieing, were the mages just had to tap to win. I was constantly going at much higher level monsters on my mages and rarely had a problem with HP.

My lance: OH SHT OHSHTOHSHTOHSHT!!

Really enjoyed FFXIV, played Marauder, raised Conjurer up high enough to raise, and was about to hit 50 for Gladiator before servers went off. Honestly I liked how the game felt, except it was empty, really really empty in a lot of places. You could really tell where they had planned to work in a few content patches but obviously never got to.
Group play was a lot of fun and to me with the way dungeons were implemented alongside levequests it provided a convincing fantasy world to me. Rather than having single player esque story dungeons you had actual labyrinths/caves to explore with some difficult monsters. I enjoyed it. Also the absence of loading screens was really nice, but that's looking to change in ARR T_T
