I remember watching a documentary on the Westboro Baptist Church. Apparently, if you die than it means you were a fag and not following god. Since according to them, only fags die.

That's a bit bizarre. Do they think that if we follow God, our bodies will be immune to death? Tiz very strange.

I remember Gamesradar did an interview with them and little pre-teen me took it to heart and got very upset.

Now, I can't even be sure they are serious. It has to be a big fucking wind-up scam, it has to be. No-one could be that fucking stupid. I hear they enjoy taunting people so they attack them, then the church can sue for loads of cash.

Russel brand chatting with them on his talkshow. I don't think this fella is funny anymore but he handled these twats nicely

Maybe the media should stop giving them the attention they so crave.

Westboro Baptist Church is, unfortunately, quite serious, and they've been acting on their convictions for quite a long time now. My own church in Reno has even had the "privilege" of being picketed by them once, in relation to the Breanna Denison murder a few years ago. (There were a handul of people with signs. We were told not to engage them-- specifically so as not to provide any grounds for a lawsuit, something for which they're known, as mentioned by some previous posters.) They're essentially considered a cult by pretty much any other Christian authority of which I'm aware. What annoys me is that Westboro so readily provides the fodder which the mainstream media in turn readily serves up to the public to tar all Christians with the same brush. They don't deserve the attention they regularly get.

sooner or later that might happen for real if they keep going the way they are. It might even happen if they do go to newtown like they say they are. They need to stop before it happens for real. They pissed off to many ppl before you know it they will piss off the wrong person or ppl.

If that was the case, the KKK and the NBPP would be long gone.... The Westboro Baptist church and other interest groups like them aren't going anywhere any time soon. It will be what it is till the majority stops believing that faith trumps science.

I at least want reason and understanding to trump fear, hate, and the pain inflicted by those firmly in the grip of said emotions. It's unfortunate that people are so easily swayed by being told what to fear, that it just consumes them.

Wait, there are people who still take them seriously, after they thank God for every disaster and suffering that has ever occurred? Let's see what out they thank God for:

-AIDS
-9/11
-Katrina
-The Holocaust
-Dead American Soldiers

The list goes on.

Wow, Westboro Baptist strikes again. They pretty much have lost focus on the other teachings of the bible and focus on their hatred for gays as well as messages of damnation. And people thought the shootings themselves were enough....

You don't even need to be Christian to see that theirs is a twisted belief. How did they get this way?

what the f*ck im a muslim and still this is completely wrong way of thinkin, these are children that died how can they think like that. Shit they make me sick.

For what it's worth, most of the people who know of them, regardless of their faith (or lack thereof) would agree with you.

I have yet to personally meet anyone who seriously agrees with them (the furthest most anyone I've seen take it is acknowledging their right to free speech, which I also must do, reluctantly.)

There are a few petitions on Whitehouse.gov now to officially classify them as a hate group, and to take away their tax exempt status as a religious organization. That would be pretty cool if that were to happen.

Anonymous also hacked their website and released names/addresses of members and stuff. I think internet vigilantism is pretty much the worst thing ever, but for the first time something has been done by them that I can really get behind.

So, you can get behind an assault on a group of religious nutters? Just because they are a group of hateful arseholes, they are still a religious organisation, so, they are a group of hateful religious arseholes, and, if the Government wants to give tax exemption to another group of less hateful religious arseholes, like the Catholic Church, mainline Baptist, and the Church of Latter Day Saints, who are only a bit more polite about their hate (Here in California, the Mormons funded that campaign to make Homosexual Marriage illegal), they must, by default, give tax exemption status to this group, else they should stop giving tax exemption to all religions in general.
