Alas, not currently.
It is something we're looking at implementing.

I would very much like to see this implemented as well. As it is, the video keeps hopping between one or three bars far, far too often. If I can keep it at two (presumably the 480 option), I'm sure it'll stream a lot smoother on my end.

Decided to let my skipping issues sit for a few months hoping that they would have been resolved by now but they haven't. :/

Any updates to the Xbox app coming soon that might help solve or at least mitigate some of these issues?

Please reach out to me by e-mail. I'll have you run some tests and then we can take it from there!

So we've decided to change our video hosting solution for Xbox for the time being in an attempt to resolve this problem. If any users are still continuing to experience heavy buffering problems please test your connection and if it's good, provide us with your location and episode information if possible.

Edit 04/03/13:
So we're currently in the state where we can't have the new content hosts active during prime time (~5pm-10pm PST) until they've been warmed up with our videos which is a multi-day process -- so in a few days we should be able to keep the switch on all the time.

Just a quick question,

Me and my friend are thinking of going halves on a subscription for Crunchyroll Premium (mostly to use on the xbox), but it would be used as a shared account. I would like to know if it would be okay to have a shared account and if it is possible to have the same account on two different xboxes (and if it can stream at the same time)?

Can somebody clarify something for me?
The bar in the top left that shows what quality you are viewing never goes above 3 bars and into the HD bit for me except on older shows that don't have 1080p on the site.

For example Durarara has the HD sign come up but newer shows like Sword Art Online do not.
Is what I am viewing on the newer shows at 3 bars 720p? Because it certainly looks like it is 720p and I assume that 1 bar is standard, 2 bars is 480p and 3 bars must be 720p
Unless there are different video qualities on the Xbox app?

Oh and one more issue is that towards the end of the video(usually after the credits start rolling)the video will always have buffering issues and I know it is not my connection because the rest of the video buffers perfectly fine.
This is not a huge problem but it is annoying if I like the ending theme or if it is one of those shows where they always put a 2 min scene after the credits or I want to watch next episodes preview.

I can answer that one.
You can only register one account to one Xbox at a time so you could not share an account if you both plan to use the Xbox.
It is probably against the terms and conditions to have two people in different households sharing one account but I do know for a fact that you can watch Crunchyroll on multiple devices at once since I have had a video playing on my Xbox and had a different video open on the site at the same time.

So unfortunately with the adaptive streaming technique we use, Xbox did not have a great way of tracking the quality so we did our best to 'emulate' what the values would likely look like based on the bitrate of the video. The HD light will probably only show up if you are viewing a video that is 720p and also high bitrate (perhaps lots of action, or encoded in a way that needed to be higher).

For the most part you can assume 1 bar usually means you're looking at ~360p, two bars is ~480p and 3 bars is ~720p, but you could end up with 480p at 3 bars or 720p at two bars depending on the actual video encode.

Hopefully in the future we can make this representation more clear to the users. It's a safe bet if it's a newer anime and the font looks crisp you're looking at 720p. Older animes such as the beginning of Bleach or Naruto (not Shippuden) are definitely only 480p, since the source files are SD I believe.

Thanks for the very quick response, I thought I was looking at HD but I could not be sure.

And why do I need an XBOX Gold account to view this? Same as Netflix and everything else. I already pay a subscription for those services, then MS wants me to pay for another just so I can run the app? Is this their requirement?

It's a business based negotiation but as of this point in time it's not within our power to remove the Gold requirement.

Glad to see im not the only one with this crazy buffering sync issue on xbox. Ill try it again, if it works, ill resub when my membership expires in 2 days, if it doesn't, ill just leave it.

The streams have been really smooth these last two days -- no buffering and no constant change of resolution. (Barely any at all, actually -- usually at the very beginning, before it settles at three bars and stays there for the remainder of the video.)

I like this very much. I hope it's something you guys did and that it'll remain this way from now on.
