I was just wondering because I have 2 Japanese songs on my phone but I don't understand the lyrics, but sometimes I go to Google to search English lyrics of the songs so I can memorize them.

Btw the songs are endless story by yukari tamura (opening of C3 Cube X Cursed X Curious) and hishoku no sora by Kami kawada (opening of shakugan no shana)

I meant Mami Kawada (autocorrect)

I have a 1GB mp3 player and only one song is in English, although it came from an anime (The Light before we Land - Gunslinger Girl)

It doesn't matter if you understand the lyrics or not, if you appreciate the music. As long as you can do that, then you can come up with your own story for each song.

Like Zeta-Nu, a good 80% of my iPod music is Japanese, and so is my ringtone.
If it sounds good, then you don't really need to understand it.
Another good example is one of my (and my parents') favourite bands: Rammstein. No idea what the lyrics mean, but damn it's good music!

Music is music. I don't find it weird at all. I have a decent chunk of Japanese songs on my phone as well. I mean people listen to opera without understanding the languages used as well. Not really any different.

TBH, you're going to get a rather biased opinion asking here. I believe the answer is between "kinda" and "no".

That doesn't really seem to make any sense, but that's kind of how it is. In reality, it isn't really weird for you to listen to what you want to listen to, but some people may see it and think it is kind of weird. But you know what? Weird is good. Much better than being a boring "normal" person.... what the hell does "normal" even mean?

If anybody gets a ride with me in my car, they are going to be listening to one of my anime or touhou playlists! It's definitely different (or unique) but that's who I am! Sometimes though I'll get a weird look if a weird OP is playing (like the openings to Wagnaria!), but there are tons of great Japanese/anime songs out there that almost anybody in the world would enjoy! (Music's a universal language, eh?)

Some English language singers are so incoherent one can't understand what they're singing anyway. (I'm not a fan of J-pop or similar, but do enjoy opera which is usually in Italian, French, German, or Russian as well as some other European languages. There are some originally in English as well.)

I have many songs on my Droid that are not in English. And not just Japanese songs. Music is the the 3rd universal language. That is because it is possible to convey emotion through music regardless of lyrics. When I hear a song it reminds me of what was happening in my life at the time the song was out. This is why all peace talks should start with food, music and math!
