I did Tae-kwon-do from 1994 to 1996. I was a senior brown belt before I dropped out. One stripe away from black belt but school took over before I could finish.

Jujitsu for most most of my life, was a Karate instructor for a little bit too but I stopped doing both years ago before my body gave out. Only ever had to use them in anger twice. Jujitsu isn't a particularly good Martial Art for use in a real fight simply because it has massive potential to be deadly, due to the fact it's very ground based and if your opponent falls down and hits their head on concrete or whatever it won't end well. It's fairly useful for restraining people though (The second incident ended up with me pinning the guy down until police arrived).
I learned good punching technique from Karate but always found a disconnect from the Kata and Sparring.
Martial Arts to me aren't about fighting, it's more mental and spiritual training. Gaining confidence, believing in your skills, and learning about your weaknesses and overcoming them.
I'd love to try Kendo some day.

I'm a rokukyu in aikido and aikiken, and I seriously hope I never end up in a fight though.
Aikido stresses nonviolence anyway.

Wing Chun. To be frank, we're taught to use our "Inner Chi" instead of brute force, and we're also taught ways to defend and attack against other kugnfu/martial arts. It's incredibly useful in real fights, especially when your opponent is an idiot who punches straight or takes up a defensive boxing stance

I did TKD when I was younger then started doing some kickboxing after and really enjoyed that. I really like martial arts just to stay in shape and be active. Krav Maga really piques my interest though.

Of course, if I ever really got in a physical fight (Hopefully never) I doubt I'd use them. I wouldn't hold back in a fight and would go for the sensitive parts.

TKD when I was young. I broke my ankle (but made it to the blue belt) & never picked it up again, I decided after that, dance was more my thing.

I've never gotten into any situation where I had to fight. I haven't done any martial arts either, but I'm thinking of taking up Tai Chi or Qigong. A lot of you here mention TKD, but none of you mention what kind. A family member of mine is currently taking Jidokwan Taekwondo. He's currently an advanced blue belt (blue with black stripe), and has been in a few tournaments. I think (it looks like) he's going to be in it for life. It is the thing he most excels in. Oddly enough he is (extreme) painfully shy, but will kick someone's ass if bothered (it takes a lot to bug him).
