Wing Chun.

My friend uses this for his job in loss prevention. It's actually pretty funny watching people who you'd think be able to snap his scrawny ass in half and yet... he makes them look like total idiots. It certainly doesn't seem useless in real world situations like many MA forms that's for certain.

Just wondering what skills CR members/Fans have or used in a fight, defense or other reason? Are any Martial Arts needed in this world of ours or do you think it to be barbaric, and better to walk away if you can?

I hear this all the time, "Violence isn't the answer"
You're right, its the solution.
If violence doesn't solve your problems, you aren't using enough.
In combination, these things can fix anything,
1.) Bacon
2.) Ductape
3.) Superglue
4.) Violence

I dont like fighting seriously. People like to talk to police and lawyers. I dont have time for that.
If it gets to a point where I even think I might loose my cool, I leave. Some people think that
getting beat up requires you get a gun and look for some quick and easy revenge. I dont have
time for that either. Life is too short to end up in jail or dead because of some other fool with
barely any brains escalating crap.

Smart way to live, man.

Its kept me out of some possibly life altering situations. Glad I'm not the only one
that thinks that way.

Boxing and a bit of Jeet Kune Do (more of a philosophy though). Unfortunately I have been in a few fights and I'm not proud of that fact. Sometimes it happens. Self defense is good to know, on the off chance.

I study Japanese Jujitsu. I have an amazing sensei. When I first got interested in martial arts I searched the area trying to find the right fit for me and was incredibly lucky to find such a great dojo. As a skinny guy of average height I feel like jujitsu gives me the best shot hold my own against bigger and stronger guys.

Never even come close to being in a fight as I've never been angry enough at someone to get in one or make someone angry enough at me to start one.

I'm glad someone started a thread like this and to see all the fellow martial artists on the site.

Run like hell!
I would not use my karate or sports karate on someone. Just run like you are being chased by death.
If possible of course. Best thing to not involve yourself in it. Then again control your emotions and discipline your mind.
Sounds easy saying but if it gets ugly you never know what might happen.

I use to be in Tae Kwon Do.
I don't think I ever used it in a fight, though. That's what nails are for.

Judo.

It kind of irks me to see people saying "I have a X belt in Y and Z but it's useless, especially for *".

That's totally the wrong attitude and I'm sure your sensei / instructor would be disappointed to hear or read that attitude.
