Has there been any word as to whether they are even interested in continuing the anime next year with the content post-ALO?

Anyone know?

no news of a 2nd season yet, and even if there was, it'll probably be announced next year at the latest

Popular question as or when a season ends, and the answer is usually the same.

Japan is very good at keeping anime plans top secret until they intend to release it in their own way. Just keep an eye on Anime News Network as a habit and maybe we'll come across new info.

Episode 25 is coming on in a couple hours. Is that straight into a new season or is that like a finish episode of this last season?

There will no doubt be a season 2, considering how immensely successful the series is. I'd give it 3 months for the announcement.

Yeah, hopefully they should animate GGO; SAO and ALO were so successful after all. Fingers crossed! Guess we just have to wait and see now!

Sinon has been cast a couple months ago; if anything, they're just going to continue on and segue into GGO. I kinda wish they'd do like some other studios do and do four-week advance previews on sites.

Not necessarily, Blue Exorcist was pretty popular when it first aired but it didn't get another season lol.

I found that GGO and beyond is a lot weaker in terms of story than SAO and ALO was. I think a series of several OVA's would suit the rest of the story best.

The series was pretty popular (Good or bad, it got allot of viewers) so I wouldn't doubt it, they still have GGO and Project Alicization so who knows.

There are some believing that there may be another season of SAO after another season of Accel World has aired (both are by the same author, and both are still in continuation). This would make sense since both are set within in the same world, making SAO a sort of prequel to Accel World. It's all just speculation though

A second Accel World anime seems more reasonably likely considering the inconclusiveness of it's story line at it's climax and so many open questions, at least compared to SAO's anime conclusion which cut chunks out of its ALO arc to round it out to 25 episodes (there may not have been any more death games but there was originally so much more to the ALO arc storyline than just trying to save Asuna and Sugu's love issues, that wasn't covered), that left it conclusive enough to be satisfying as is.

Hmm i'm not really sure how much further they would bring this anime. They already saved Asuna and everything. they would prob have to make a whole new set of characters.

well, all the work's already done. the SAO/ALO story was only 5 of 11 novels. I'm hoping they eventually get around to another season. I loved Phantom Bullet and Mother's Rosario. Alicization is a little slower paced to start off, but I think it's actually the most interesting part of the SAO saga so far.
