Australian guys are okay. The Australian boys I know are morons, though, in a bad way. I mean, I'm not saying all Australian guys are morons, but...
Even so, I like Australian accents. (^ ^ ; )

Hmm...

This is a real Australian and, no, they don't all look like that.

Aboriginal or what can also be referred to as a Native, is what you're looking for!

They don't have the best rep here in Australia, for good reason.

You know why they don't? It's because the racists white people/Zionist that rule your country has destroyed their culture and they also taken their land and called their Gods fake.

There is a high degree of open white racism in Australia. It's so bad that even the politicians and the country's laws are openly racist. It is one of the worst places to live in the world if you are not white.

Completely incorrect and uninformed, lovely to know. The government mistreated them when they settled from Britian, but that is by no means the case now and much has been done for them in the past 30 years specifically.

We are one of the most openly multi-cultural places on the planet mate, I go into the city and it's a game of "Spot the white guy" because we open our doors to all and accommodate.

Then it's not you being an "australian guy" it's about "you" as a person that counts! Unless the girl has a specific nationality race or whatever you want to call it. Goodluck!!!

Australia is still extremely racist, and the abuse (read: genocide) of the first nations people here is by no means limited to the years immediately after British invasion. Hell, they were only included in the census in 1967, and the government policies which led to the stolen generation were being enacted until the 1970s. In the 80s, prominent business people could still get on tv and advocate killing off "the bad ones" by poisoning their drinking water. It was only in 1992 when Australian courts decided first nations people had any significant sovereignty rights over their own land. Land which was taken from them illegally according to the British law of the time. (Basically Australia was declared "Terra Nullius" (meaning no human settlements) and fair game for colonisation. )

In the last decade, the Howard government decided that the best solution to the endemic social instability in central Australia was, rather than looking at what the problems are and providing communities with the means to empower themselves, to send in the Army and occupy indigenous communities and basically control every aspect of their lives down to what they spend money on. In order to do this, they had to suspend previously enacted legislation preventing discrimination based on race.

So, apart from the systematic dispossession of their languages, culture, land, children and sense of self worth over a period of centuries, and apart from the extremely prevalent view that any problems they have now are because they're not trying hard enough to be white, and apart from the fact that First Nations Australians have an average life expectency of something like 53 as opposed to 81 for the rest of us (which is about the life expectancy of Kenya, and is %20 below the world average of 67), and apart from the fact that there's so much abuse of and so little meaningful support for indigenous communities that petrol sniffing is a real problem in central Australia (how desperate do you have to be to sniff petrol!), and apart from the fact that it was 2007 before the government took responsibility for the stolen generation (as long it was made well clear that no one had any grounds for reparations), yeah, we're a totally multi cultural, egalitarian, not racist society.

Do we even have a larger population of non-anglo immigrants than America or the UK? I doubt it. We certainly have far less illegal immigration than they do, despite the hysteria in the media and the government's offshore detention policies. (Which, it should be added, have received significant criticism from the UN as human rights abuse).

Anyway, I was in a bad mood and this was one instance of internet racism too many. Sorry to derail the topic of the thread. Ultimately, I think people are going to be attracted to whomsoever they're going to be attracted to. Just go for it and see.

It depends on the Australian man, really. Is he a dick? Or a sweet heart?
Other than that, I find accents attractive in general. I come from Ireland, but I don't have an accent because I've been influenced by America my entire life. But I find Irish accents attractive.

And Australia, that seems like a great place to live, honestly. I wish I could see kangaroos in my backyard. My life would be pleasant. Unless I get attacked by one.

Well, the original "colonists"(if you can call them that, they were actually just the undesirables from the rest of the English empire) did hunt aboriginal people for fun. not that they referred to them as people, and until 76 had a "whites only" immigration policy so its not like theres really a good track record.

Back on topic: Australian accents are nice, but theres about 7 or so that I like more. there are no real draws besides the accent because all of the good crocodile hunters are already dead.

Kangaroos are great. And they're generally pretty timid. (Depending on the species.) It's really nice being able to walk to the end of the street and hang out with them. Living next to a nature reserve is awesome.

Also, I might be giving away a secret, but Australian animals are actually not that dangerous. We might have a few extremely poisonous ones, but they generally don't live near people and there aren't that many of them anyway. According to QI (not that it's a hugely reliable source), you're 20 times more likely to get killed by a horse than by any more overtly dangerous animal. Don't tell anyone I told you. :p

Also, this might just be the state I come from, but it's extremely rare to hear anyone say "G'day mate" unless they're being ironic.

Well, while it's true a lot of the early eastern states colonies were set up as prison colonies, they were still run by the British Government. States like South Australia were colonised mainly as business interests though, and the genocide and subsequent cultural suppression was by no means less severe. Although smallpox decimated the first nations before the first white settlers ever made it that far south, so there were maybe less people to oppress.

Unfortunately, too many people dont think that who they are as a person counts. They rely on their skin color or the country they happen to have been lucky enough to have been born and raised in. It's no wonder there are so many ridiculous stereotype based gender and race biased forum threads floating around here. Seems like some people believe thats all that makes them who they are.
