It's improbable, but just listen. When we go to sleep our brain activity is reduced a great deal. If for even a millisecond, our brain activity completely ceased and rebooted itself. The old us would very possibly die, leaving a new "us" in the morning, with all the memories of the previous.
We think we've lived a good amount of time, when possibly, every night, you die and a new version of you awakes oblivious to the other you that died.
What do you think? If you completely reboot your brain, will you still be "you"?

I think its highly logical to think. Think of it this way if you are put into a video game (all of your memory's and emotions perfectly) to make an avatar. that avatar acts and thinks just like you in the game would that be you. nope. your still alive in the reall world. even if that game mimics you. so every night we do die..

i see where you are coming from but in actuality our brains are working their hardest when we sleep. When we sleep is when our short term memory becomes long term memory. So you could say that more of your brain is working when we sleep.

No.
If you completely reboot your brain, will you still be "you"?
Of course you will still be you.
The "you" in you is highly dependent upon the physical structure of your brain and said DNA structures ... your self-aware metaphysical you uses the physical structure of your brain as a map of you. If you digitally mapped your consciousness, removed it from your current body, and placed it in another body/head, your consciousness would collapse. Even if your consciousness was accepted by the new body, you wouldn't be you. It must be an exact copy of your old physical brain.
Thus the reason there is no such thing as a soul, and why Heaven/Hell is completely impossible. Your metaphysical you, or soul or consciousness, can not survive without your physical brain. Once the brain dies, so does your metaphysical "soul" as it no longer has a working structure to bind itself to.
So, if it was possible to "re-boot" yourself every night, as long as you had the same physical brain, you would be you.

You should realize that life is precious and your personality is comprised of your experiences. Should you die and your life experience be reset; you will cease to be yourself. Life is your only true purpose and the meaning of your existence simultaneously. Remember this simple fact and you will accomplish much, but forget it and you will go nowhere.

Their is stages to being asleep NREM
First stage is when we start dozing off but if somebody were to ask if we were asleep we would probably say no and
this when Brain waves and muscle activity slow down. Stage 2 our brain wave pattern is calmer and body temp drops a little bit, during this this time we can be easily be awoken no eye movement though
when we hit the 3rd and 4th stage we would need a very loud noise to wake us up.
Our breathing is more into rhythm blood presure and body temp drop again and muscle relax and this when we have the slowest brain activity
these stages are of NREM are also called "Slow wave sleep". This is when we are restored or you rejuvenate, what are body wants when we are tired after 90 min we go into REM which hypes up slow brain waves alomost to the point to its like we are awke or even faster
heart beats faster blood pressure rises, but strangely we are practicly paralyzed. REM last 5 min to 30 then we Hit NERM again the cycle repeats
Maybe during 3rd or 4th we could completly shut down for like a sec or less it may be possible
Interesting idea my friend was taking about actually really cool!!
You can read about it in this website if you want
Does anybody Know more about this?
I would also like to know

What defines us as a person is what we've experienced, with maybe a hint of how our brains are different to others. Even if we "rebooted" our brains, we'd be the exact same person we were before hand.

I get that this is an attempt at being philosophical, but this quite possibly the dumbest thread I've ever seen. And you have a very poor understanding of what death actually is.

Death is when the soul leaves the body. The soul does not leave the body during sleep.
