New Winter Titles: Encouragement of Climb, Mangirl, & Ai-Mai-Mi
|
I liked Moritasan wa Makuchi. It certainly did not suck in any objective sense. I also watched the Lovecraft short, which did indeed suck in several objective ways, but it was fun. Its not the kind of series where I'd watch a full episode, but in under five minute doses, I enjoyed it. So (1) some shorts do not suck and (2) some shorts do suck and and (a) I enjoy some and (b) do not enjoy some. Obviously, (a) matters far more for Crunchyroll's financial success than (1). Of course, Crunchyroll makes no judgement about quality. They bid for everything, and license every series where their bid is accepted. If few people view some type of shows, obviously Crunchyroll has to take that into account when they make their bid, but if the bid is accepted, Crunchyroll is going to stream the series. |

...Weren't Ai, Mai and Mi the names of three of the four main characters in Popotan? The other was like...Mia. ._. I just thought it was funny. I'm calling a fourth character named Mia right now.

Beat Tubba Blubba and General Guy in 35 minutes. Awesome? Oh yeah. Sad? Oh yeah.

This season sucks, CR has no fault in this.
I'm just hoping they will pick Maou Maoyuu no Yuusha, one of the few that seems interesting this season. |

So did I, I thought it was about somebody crossdressing, either a girl or a guy. But it turned out to be about a group of MANga GIRLs. Which you know, when you think about it, isn't really all that different, so I guess it's not really false advertising or anything. |

Has anyone heard whether or not "Horizon In The Middle of Nowhere" is going for a third season? I haven't kept up on the posts, so I apologize in advance if I missed something blatantly obvious...

I have seen no news of a third series being green-lit, but the DVD/BD sales were certainly were good enough. It should be noted 6 months elapsed between end of the first series and the beginning of the second. The same gap would point to spring 2013 for a third series, but apparently the second series was announced about 4 months before it aired. |

Encouragement of Climb? Sweet, that was one of the more interesting shows this year. I know I've complained about slice of life shows before, but this one might be worth it.

It is very likely being handled by Aniplex. If you check many of their titles (i.e., Fate/Zero) on CR, you'll see that most that were simulcast were delayed by one week, while others only appeared as library titles well after broadcast in Japan. Nekomonogatari was also a bit of an odd bird, in that first it was more like an aired OVA than a series (only 4 episodes), and all were aired in Japan back-to-back in a single 2 hour block. Also, contract negotiation costs are relatively fixed, so that makes them relatively more expensive to acquire than a 12-26 episode series. |
