It premieres on TV Tokyo and is from TMS Entertainment, so I would say odds are good that CR will have it.

Of course, just as there often seems to be at least one "surprised they got that" each season, there also is often a "surprised no one got that". Aquarion Evol last year was one of those, as it premiered on TV Tokyo (which normally would mean TV Tokyo controlled international licensing), and Funimation had the first series (which meant they would be interested, and indeed they did license Evol more recently).

I hope someone other than NicoNico get Nekomonogatari(Black), I really dislike their site. Funimation is pretty bad with streams aswell, so I'm hopin Crunchy grabs it. If not I guess its "Alternative Methods" for me. Wouldnt mind Hanagai NEXT here either, but Im certain Funi will get that one :/ Just hopin for some good ones on Crunchy.

Lots of really short anime! I hope this is not the new trend for anime.

For better or worse, it probably is (at least for many comedies).

Unless one of the committee members is willing to bet that a series will be popular enough that DVD/BD sales will be profitable, it is far less expensive to make a short anime, and it does almost as good a job of raising awareness of the manga (one of the other reasons late night anime are produced).

Whether it is indeed better or worse is how many of these are displacing full length comedy series, and how many are being made where no anime would have been made at all. Given that FansubDB lists 45 titles for this season, and only 28 for the same season one year ago, it seems likely it is the latter (that most of these are anime that would not have existed).

People should keep in mind that short form anime are not as new as you might think. I can point to a series here on CR that was simulcast in spring 2009 that is only a few minutes per episode, and I sincerely doubt it was the first such series broadcast in Japan.

Shorts worked on me... Bought Teekyuu and Yama no Susume manga just recently... And ordered Teekyuu BD as well. I buy both for full length anime shows too of course but a short can sometimes be better at leaving me wanting more. If an anime fully animates the original source material there may be less point in buying it.

I enjoy the short format anime just for what they are too. Short, sweet and to the point as they say... Some nights I don't have even 20 minutes but I can always take five...
