It's like saying the next james bond film with gadgets in it will be bad.

I've never really seen other survival shows, so it's not really generic to me. If you watch all sorts of survival shows, it would be much more constructive to post things like 'well, if you liked this, there is another anime called '_____' that is very close in genre that you might like as well.'

Post calling an anime a generic pos trash anime is pretty generic really.

God, people in the Internet REALLY like to use the word "generic" (when in fact it's a business/market/economics term, nothing with personal opinion).

I don't find Btooom generic at all. The characters aren't annoying to me.

Lots of trust issues in the anime, the back stories for each character were magnificent, the character development was enjoyable and the fight scenes don't take up one whole episode, it only takes like 3-5 minutes. I gave this anime a 5 stars in my review.

So much suspense and many surprising elements.

I feel this anime is underrated, if anything.

Does it really matter if it is or not? Does it hurt your pride as a fan of the show to hear it called generic? But are you entertained? If your answer is yes, then what does it matter if anyone says it may or may not be generic?

I know I won't deny myself entertainment based on if a series is generic or not so long as it's not boring or what I deem poorly executed.

Agreed. An anime or whatever, for that matter is what we make it to me. It's rather unnecessary to compare your own opinions to others in such a trivial matter. "To each his/her own," after all.

Well i guess kirito is kinda over powered cause he's like damn high ass level in the game, but the thing is i think it was dumb that he had the same stats in ALO which made the story boring D:

I like an anime or I don't. I try not to get caught up in the whole generic/originality department, or else I'd have to stick to watching one anime every six months. Same goes for movies and the like.

Yep. And even though BTOOM! isn't highly original, it is still a fun show. It's all about the execution.

"At least our heroine didn't want to sit on his little samurai sword as soon as she met him"? Yeah, I get the impression you don't watch much anime, or waayy too much hentai. It's probably the latter. The whole romance without touching thing is a played out, and simply stupid theme present in about 95% of the hundreds upon hundreds of anime I have seen over the past 25 years. Every time we see romance in an anime it goes like this:

Guy meets girl. Guy and girl spend time together and form a connection with each other. Guy and girl beat around the bush for the entire series denying they have feelings for each other. Guy and girl finally realize they are meant for each other and in the final 30 seconds of the series, they kiss. Or in Btooom's case, hug. The fact that Sword Art Online featured happy couple who wasn't afraid of intimacy is rarely treaded ground for anime and gets bonus points from me for that.

"She started off not trusting anyone and is extremely frigid. It relieves me to finally see a character that isn't considered as a slut. Due to her experience, she extremely hates being near men. Can't blame her for that." That is so stupidly common in anime they actually have a word for it. It's called tsundere. Yeah, she had a good reason to be a cold bitch who warms up at the end. They usually do.

"unlike most protagonist, it didn't take him long to attach some pair of testicles to himself when he realizes he must kill to live. So glad he isn't an annoying sissy like Yukiteru Amano, if he was, it would make me want to dig my nails into my eyes." LOL My bad, I thought you actually watched Btooom. As of the final episode, he was still refusing to play the game. Crying because of the horrible things he had to do to defend himself. He never realized he had to kill to live, he simply defended himself against those trying to kill him and his woman. Because obviously, this would have been a pretty lame one episode anime if he didn't. I don't know why I'm typing this, since you probably dug your nails in to your eyes after seeing what a sissy Ryota is.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Btooom a lot and it was in my top 3 favorite anime this season. It didn't break any molds, but it was exciting, interesting and fun none the less. Regardless, you're just coming off like a butthurt fanboy attacking anyone who bashes your beloved from the safety of your keyboard. SAO was simply a much better show and judging from the ratings and critical acclaim it's got, most people agree with me.

IMO, I see a few discrepancies with your post. I'll try to be brief.

"Guy meets girl. Guy and girl spend time together and form a connection with each other. One, how can you credit SAO for such a superficial relationship which was consecrated over a fucking mayonnaise sandwich. Two, how tactless of you to describe their relationship so credulously. Please give mind to the situation they're in and history.

"That is so stupidly common in anime they actually have a word for it. It's called tsundere. Yeah, she had a good reason to be a cold bitch who warms up at the end. They usually do."
Himiko had good reason to be distant and cold with Sakamoto given her past and the situation, but it's not her nature. IMO, that shouldn't hold.

"Crying because of the horrible things he had to do to defend himself. He never realized he had to kill to live, he simply defended himself against those trying to kill him or his woman. Because obviously, this would have been a pretty lame one episode anime if he didn't. One, Again, this isn't some fanfic like SAO where the MCs are Mary Sues. I agree with you that hasn't fully accepted that he MUST kill to live, but rather defending himself/company. I doubt most people would be able to readily accept that situation. Two, I think Sakamoto is rather brave and strong. He's able to ''nut up'' and act when the situation is dire instead of waiting for miracles or talking incessantly.

"SAO was simply a much better show and judging from the ratings and critical acclaim it's got, most people agree with me." LOL, obviously ratings mean everything.

Btooom was definitely the best show in 2012.SAO started of extremely good with the first two episodes then it dropped the ball little by little,it maybe far more popular then btooom but popularity doesnt mean its better, cause thats like saying naruto is better then death note, only a brain less person would say that.many shows were better then sao this year.every character in btooom acted realisticlly i give it a 9 out of 10.all my friends well bored of sao if i showed them it,btooon is far mor exciting in every way.
