I got Netflix. Problem pretty much stopped there.

Unrelated - Firefly needed 50 more episodes.

One part of it is heading for the scrapyard, the other manages to keep the genre alive.

So I might half way give up on it at the most.

I switch between anime and k dramas so I dont get burnt out on to many. I'm the type that like to watch whole series in one sitting.

I didn't watch very much anime after the golden years of Toonami ended until about two years ago when I had the hardware, good internet speed/data usage plan, and streaming services to be able to re-ignite my obsession. So I'd say that was a good 8 or 9 years of not watching a great deal of anime.

There wasn't much of anything for me to watch on TV, and I couldn't afford the ludicrously over-priced DVD's they shlocked at me at various stores. But I still tried to watch what I could when I had enough money for it. Only managed 2 or 3 series though.

I can't say I was miserable living without anime. I just read more books and watched more TV and movies. I'm glad to be back into it though.

Hi all,

have any of you considered giving up on anime for a while and if so, how did you manage to do it?

For me, I reckon its a problem. I have been seriously addicted to anime but i find it hard to just stop or at least slow down.

Anyone else share similar feelings?

If your getting bored of anime your watching the wrong show. Its not an addiction its entertainment. Your question sound to me like "I'm tried of listening to radio, so I'm going to stop hearing music."

If anime watching is filling up your time... then get a hobby or take a walk around the block. Or make a schedule.
As with anything, too much of good thing can be bad.

I've considered taking a break on it so I don't get too burned out... but, that hasn't happened and I am still not burnt out yet. Though, the past couple weeks I really haven't watched much anime due to reading a ton of manga. Same thing though, right?

My life currently consists of school, manga, anime and video games. If I get bored of one(currently video games) I just focus on the other(anime). Though when the new semester starts almost all my time will go in to schooling.

However, I do not think I will ever give up anime entirely. I might slow down on how much I watch but I enjoy anime to much to give up on it.

I don't feel the need to watch anime until i start watching it, then i can't stop. Therefor some days i can watch 2 season of an anime, and the next day no even one episode. I try to keep it balanced

It is good to take a break every now and then and do something different to refresh yourself and then come back to it. Into my first years when I got into anime I was attached to the computer but as I got older I became more busy and wanted to try new things. So coming back to watching anime is something I enjoy and find more relaxing if you do other things in between I think you will appreciate it more. Korean Dramas are also good too.

I stopped after Toonami ended for a year and then I found Adult Swim and filled my weekend around that. But after a few years of that I just kinda drifted away from anime. I read a lot of novels but I just didn't watch any shows. But I got netflix a few years back and I have been destroying anime series like a fiend, and don't plan on quitting tell there isn't anymore out there.

I was planning to give up on them at one point, because I thought there was nothing else that I would like.

But then I realized I was just being a bum and wasn't looking hard enough.

I also started having trouble finding more anime I like as I get older, but in the end I have to admit I'm more into anime now than I ever was in the past. Makes me wonder if I'll still be watching when I'm 40 or 50 like some of these forum members.
