Why do women get breast implants, what's better- natural or fake?

Of course, if men weren't so freakin' obsessed with women's bodies, then maybe this wouldn't be so big of an issue. I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree. It sounds like you're making the following points: 1. Women with low self-esteem get breast implants. 2. Most men desire women who have large breasts. 3. CR forums are representative of men in the real world. 4. Breast augmentation would be less of an issue if men were not so obsessed over women's bodies. The rebuttals I would like to make in response to your respective points: 1. As mentioned before, it is NOT only women with low self-esteem who opt for breast implants. There are women who have been famous, beautiful, and confident their entire lives who decide to get breast implants because of aging and the natural sagging of the body. They do it as a way to maintain their youth and do "maintenance" on their beauty. They do it to fulfill their own vanity, rather than because they have a lack of self-esteem. As a matter of fact, you might say that sometimes women go with this procedure because they have too MUCH self-esteem. Additional, breast implants may be chosen for health reasons, due to a woman losing most of a breast from a mastectomy procedure. Or women may have naturally asymmetrical breasts that cause uneven weight distribution, which results in chronic back pain. Breast implants help repair some deformities of the breast. 2. Many men are indeed attracted to a large bust (in many 1st world western countries). But then again there are also large numbers of men who prefer women with smaller busts. I would argue that most men find the face a more important factor in how beautiful a woman is, and the proportions and shape in her body rather than just bust alone. To say men exclude women on bust size alone, using that simply as the sole factor in physical attraction, is absurd. That would be akin to saying women prefer larger penis size, and will simply reject a man based on this one measurable alone and exclude all the other countless variables. Additionally, men tend to have easier standards of women than women have of men, simply because men are in the position of the chaser, not the person being approached. 3. The CR forums are definitely not representative of men in the real world, it attracts a very specific, niche demographic (young children to teens mainly, drawn to the specific subject of anime, internet savvy, etc.). Also, forums are conducive to trolling as well as silly/humorous remarks that may be mistaken for a serious post. So if you see a bunch of posts from supposed male CR members regarding their opinions on breast size, keep in mind that it's a very specific group of males (young, likes anime, internet savvy, etc.) and that most will be inexperienced with women, and most probably are not even serious. And if men on CR did prefer larger breasts, to what extent do they prefer it? Do they prefer it so much that they'll restrict themselves to only women with large breasts? I would say the answer is no. 4. I would say that men are not the only one's obsessed over women's bodies. The woman herself will obsess over her own body. And other women will judge over the appearance of other women. As a matter of fact, I would contend that women are harsher and more judgemental of one another's appearance more so than men are. Don't a lot of women say that when they wear fashionable but uncomfortable clothes, or put on makeup that it's not just for or because of men? They do it to prove something to themselves, and to also receive acceptance from other women? If that's the case, than how so would breast implants (another cosmetic variable) be caused by solely men and not by the woman herself and her peers? Are women not also obsessed over men's bodies and how they dress and behave themselves? How many fashion magazines do women run that highlights fashion, exercise, cosmetics, and how to please a man and impress other women? Should women be blamed for men who use steroids to enhance their physique? Sorry for the wall of text, but I just cannot agree with what you wrote, and I think it is frankly an unfair and emotionally-charged depiction of men on CR and men in general. Excellent argument, and very well presented. When you stated: "Don't a lot of women say that when they wear fashionable but uncomfortable clothes, or put on makeup that it's not just for or because of men? They do it to prove something to themselves, and to also receive acceptance from other women? If that's the case, than how so would breast implants (another cosmetic variable) be caused by solely men and not by the woman herself and her peers?" I think you headed in the right direction, but I think you generalized a bit. Women do dress nicely for many reasons that are unrelated to men. However, when a woman dresses provocative (and this varies depending on the region of the world) it can be concluded that in most cases she is seeking the attention of males (sex appeal). Breast implants play directly to sex appeal rather than just fashion (if of course there is no medical reason for them). So one could argue, that in most cases, women that get breast implants do so with the sole purpose of attracting men (focusing on the reason for the implants an nothing more). Thoughts? |

from a males view, Breast size is irrelevant for liking a women! (sure some males do only desire such things but that shouldn't be a deciding factor)
i think that society is fucked up when it pressures a female into feeling insecure due to their breast size I honestly feel bad for the newer generations where so much emphasis and pressure is put on the females to look like supermodels. like why even look at glamour magazines, they are not a proper representation as too how you should desire to be. to sum it up, our society as a whole needs to be fixed for this kind of subject. |

I would argue that you are confusing society with culture. Society is just individuals who share economic, political and industrial infrastructure within a certain geographical area, while culture establishes behavior patterns and perceptions. So not only is our society fucked up, but also our culture. What a mess. |

Even if women perform a certain action to attract men, can the men really be blamed for that action? Men might like big breasts but unless they personally forced a woman to get implants, it was that woman's personal choice. She had a chance to do it, or not do it. In life, there will always be outside pressure to do something, but ultimately you decide whether you will go through with it or not. I do some things that are mostly for attracting or pleasing women, but I don't blame women for the fact that I do those things. |
