I think there should be something like Kickstarter for anime seasons, via legal services like CR. Because the number of fans who could contribute $10 each to keep their favourite series going would be easy finance.

The number of forums i've seen when a series finishing with everyone posting 'Another Season please!'
Yet so many shows which are fan favourites don't get continued financing to make more.

Anime Production industry please get on the Crowd Source Funding bandwagon and lets keep these original shows going!

What do you guys think? Is there a show you would have chipped in to keep going?

The gatekeepers won't allow it. It would erode their power. When an artist can get production funding direct from his market Who needs the expensive suit in the high-rise office?

As a longtime anime fan, I'd be more than happy to contribute $10usd for each season of Naruto Shippuden and Bleach that Viz decides to roll out. Honestly, my girlfriend and I haven't even noticed the monthly fee leaving the bank account every month for our cr membership, so if they added TRULY LIVE simulcasts and made some new bleach episodes, I wouldnt mind paying a bit more. BTW- If you want truly premium members- make sure your cr app works flawlessly on EVERY iPhone 4 please.

Not when the donation is 10$, maybe if you funded for the whole anime it would be another case. Anyways i suppose i wouldnt mind paying some money for the real good animes to continue. Of course i would want my money back if it didnt continue.

I buy the BDs, DVDs, manga and novels of shows I like.

I have contributed to a couple of movies on kickstarter for the heck if it. On one I am an associate producer so I even got an IMDB page LOL

But I don't think you can raise enough here for anime. Not enough fans here that are willing to pay the real price of a series. $10 a season will NOT be enough. At least $300/season per viewer might be a start but over here people balk at that price.

If an anime needed to start or get another season and all I had to do was pay 10 bucks I absolutely would.

I totally agree. Just want to add more to your comment.

Anime is so niche that $10 per person isn't enough. Casual fans can dream about the sequel, but they aren't serious enough to put in hundreds of dollars for funding.

Since estimated budget for ONE high quality TV anime episode is $300,000 and $3.6 Million for 12 episode/season. With $10 per person, fans of the west will need 360,000 people to fund anime's sequel season. Even Japan, the home of anime, has estimated amount of 100,000 core fans.

Is $300,000/episode too much for the budget? When you divide it among roughly 200 people consists of artists, writers, contractors, and support team, each staff get average of $1500 per person. More staff, smaller the pie slice.

Even the Kick Heart, the kickstarter funded feature anime, got $200,000 for 10 minute animation. 3200 backers funded about average of $62 per person.

hmm i agree, plus like you said people here think anything not free on the internet, many of those shows people want continued but refuse a few bucks for a dvd, not to mention the broadcasting fees on a show, getting it produced isn't enough

but it would be nice...

And let only the popular shows get funding? No, I think I'll pass. I am pretty convinced that you can't really tell how a show will pan out until you see it. My favorite shows in a given season are almost never the ones that I thought I'd like, although I also generally enjoy the popular ones too.

A better idea, though, might be the allowance to donate to a show that you already like, with the prospect of perhaps a bump in animation quality or a second season or something, although I understand that this is a logistical nightmare. In the case of Anime, I think I'll take elitism over democracy -- I feel like producers and distributors know which shows are likely to be good more than I do.
