Ah, that I understand. I wanted them to wrap up the Sorata x Shiina story at the end of the first cour and do something else with the second, but they dragged it out so Sorata could be angsty longer and it hurt Shiina's character arc.

But is that a problem with Shiina's character, or the show's pacing?

(I also didn't have any problem accepting her as-is though, so I'm having trouble seeing her from other perspectives).

To be honest, I'd rather have a character like Shiina than some of the leads in other romantic comedies which are completely uninteresting and have no unique traits whatsoever. I guess some people will take a disliking to her personality, but it's still better than the alternative (in my opinion).

What if I told you that I dislike her precisely because she isn't interesting. Her struggles are not interesting. It's like watching an infant learn to walk, some might find it endearing I just found it tedious.

the one(s)

the fact people are arguing who is king of shiina or

the fact we want another season or

the fact that the character of shiina??

on topic: if you lurk the forums you'll know the ending. so I am not eager for another season per say but certainly wouldn't mind one.

at least this thread has sensible people posting and not saying "sakurasou season 3" >.>

Oddly enough, I liked Shiina's character far more than Aoyama's; she got on my nerves for some reason.

But I can't quite pinpoint why.

Oh well; I guess that's what extended casts of characters are for.

You don't have to like everyone to still enjoy the show.

True enough, my enjoyment would come from seeing the characters who failed the most finally succeed. Nanami and Sorata continued to be dealt shit hands and working through that is great for character development. What happens with Shiina is really no concern of mine, oh how cute she learned to love

Lol.

"Far more" was probably too excessive; I'd like to see Aoyama succeed as well.

Edit:

I think it might've been because I already had shows like Psycho-Pass and Shin Sekai Yori to watch while Sakorasou was around, so while I was watching it I wasn't really looking for anything deep or particularly compelling.

Now that I read some of these comments and have extrapolated this to to a bigger part of the community.

Why do we like this anime so much?

I mean mal has it rated at 8.2ish. There wasn't much room to work with the entire storyboard isn't specialized. I personally liked it for its execution beyond that nothing else really. I would like a second season simply for the fact it it was well done for something generic.

I like it because it was realistic in the sense that hard work and perseverance don't mean shit in the real world. It ups your chances but both Sorata and Nanami were slapped with this harsh and cold reality and I haven't really seen many shows do that well that I can think of without killing people to show how "cruel and harsh" the world can be.

I went into it not expecting a lot when I started but it's a solid 7 from me even though it's pacing is odd and it centers around a character I don't give a rats ass about.

basically this anime is about life 101 and caters to the notion of "life is hard"

I think it was because the energy of the characters consistently delivered entertaining episodes. No matter what they were doing, it was pretty much always fun to watch. Just little things like Ryuunosuke's tomatoes were brilliant.

And the art definitely helped to cement the relaxing aesthetic.

Everything certainly wasn't great all the time, but when the stakes were high you could trust the outcome to be alright.

Basically the show was cathartic, I guess. Which can apply to tragedy as well as comedy.
