My view on Canadians are that they are ego-centric and just love to tell everyone how great everything is where they are. I've also noticed that they are incredibly racist towards the native population.

Also, you can't trust a country that uses plastic money.

Honestly, ever since we elected Stephen Harper, the differences between America and Canada have been dwindling rapidly. Our PM is a man who admires the policies of George Bush (war on terror, privatizing prison, war on crime, reducing all forms of social assistance, and so on and so on...). Members of our conservative government are also trying to reopen the debate on abortion.

In less than five years, we've dropped more than 10 spots on numerous quality of life indexes, our environmental record is weakening, our war efforts are increasing, and our largely symbolic ties to the British monarchy are now being strengthened.

That being said, I'd still rather be here than America. A doctor isn't going to ask to see my credit info before treating me.

Regardless, I don't like the direction my country is heading in.

Thank you!!! Finally someone else who sees the problems facing our country! For me, the environmental record stuff is the most worrying, as well as how government scientists are being muzzled and prevented from speaking publicly about their work or their findings. I read somewhere recently that with regards to science and research, Canada and the US have essentially switched roles. The US has become more open and free with the kind of research it funds since the end of Bush whereas Canada has clamped down on it's scientists recently.

I do still love my country and I also prefer being here, but I don't like where we're going...

Ditto, glad to see my fellow Canadians being so reflective of the states we are in. Stephen Harper's pro-America policies are tarnishing our peace keeping name. Look at what the government did in Libya, of course, it's all in the name of liberating the country and spreading democracy. Taxes keep going up, and so does tuition, while at the same time the government is bent on military expansion (which we don't really need, unless U.S wants to bomb us one day). What happened to the Canada that refused to side with the States during the Iraq invasion?
The country is still awesome (save for the snow........it's especially bad this year), but we gotta rethink some things.

Honestly, If you think we're all so polite, you'd be wrong. People who think that way have obviously never been to Fort Mcmurray. Believe me, we have our fair share of assholes :/

Really? That never happened to me and I'm Asian. We're a really diverse country since we're a immigrant-heavy country compared to other countries. Hopefully, your perception will change soon, but you shouldn't assume that you should determine a country's trust factor based on plastic money. We're only trying to move forward.

For me, I remember folk from the UK love Canadians, but hate New Yorkers for some reason. I remember during summer walking into a restaurant and ordering food when my waiter asked if me if I was Canadian, and looked so relieved when I told him I was.

I read that Canadians are coming down to America and buying foreclosed houses very cheaply and renting them out to people. So it seems that America will soon be owned by Canada and China.

Hmmm....? From where I lived, taxes are high as HELL (12%). Most people cross the borders just to get supplies like fuel, electronics, clothes and EVEN FOOD! Houses around us cost at least $1,000,000 just for a small one. That's why I always have to bring extra few dollars just in case.
