I live in Washington state so I've know quite a few Canadians and I even went and stayed with one of my friends in Vancouver BC for a week. The only thing I was unhappy about was her Mom put butter on EVERYTHING!! Even sandwiches... I thought I'd be safe one day asking for peanut butter & jelly but she put butter on that too!!! WTF!?!?! Was that just their family or is that a Canadian thing? I mean butter on tuna fish butter on ham & cheese... all I can say is I was about 5lbs lighter and VERY hungry by the time I got home. Other then that I had a great time!

might be a commonwealth thing XD uk dues that to so dues Australia and new zealand

Well Victoria BC prides itself on being more British than Britain. and the UK diet is built around being constant drenched in freezing water. We ARE talking about the home of the Deep fried Mars bar. I don't personally like a lot of butter on my sandwiches but I notice the sandwiches given out at my workplace are exactly as you describe.

I'm down with Canada. I really don't see much difference between myself and the Canadians that I know. Internationally I think they're more liked that people from the USA because Canada doesn't meddle in international affairs as much as the US does.

On an aside I don't see how anyone could hate the nation that gave us the Kids in the Hall.

Hockey is To Canadians what Football is to Europe and Baseball is to Americans.

even the most uninterested person knows the names of the teams and some of the star players. for Generations kids have laced up their skates and dreamed of playing in the NHL....

In foreign country you can summon all the Canadians out of the wood work by singing or humming the theme song to the CBC's 'Hockey Night in Canada"

I like Canada it has everything awesome, or so it seems. Nice people, hockey, ketchup chips, and rather loose laws on marijuana. I'll let you guess the first place where I will flee too if needed.

In terms of Americans not liking Canada or the people from there it's basically out of ignorance. South Park often makes fun of Canadians and even in How I Met Your Mother they make fun of Robin who is Canadian; it basically comes down to Americans being egotistical. Although, just remember a few bad apples don't represent the country as a whole.

Also, I like Canadian movies, they're hilarious.

hmmm.. yeah.. Marjuana.

We considered decriminalizing it in parliament nearly a decade ago.. (sometime around 2004?)

anyway. After rumblings from the american ambassador about 'security risk and trade sanctions' it never passed. Maybe now that a few states have legalised Marjuana. The US will let us run our own country?

WOW our government likes shiting on canada.

I think Canada is awesome. Then again, I'm biased, haha.

Yeah, I think Canada is overlooked since we border the US. Looking back in our history, it can seem that we're really trying to become similar to the US in culture and lifestyle, so we're looked down upon and disregarded. My friend's friend mentioned that once, and I guess it could be true.

Also, I have heard and seen online that people think all Canadians are kind. I'm not sure what to think about that... The only thing that comes to mind is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXsQASiZy6c

I remember seeing some people saying how "I thought only Canadians were the idiots who say sorry to total strangers?" or something like that in the comments of that video. lol, and if you see the top comment there's a Canadian who just loves making fun of that "kindness" stereotype.
