As the title says, animes that surprised you or made you wish you had given it a shot earlier.

For me, I can think of about two.

Steins gate, I couldn't understand how I hadn't seen this anime yet. I wish I had watched it sooner.
Bleach, sure it's a filler filled typical shounen anime but I attempted several times to get into it. Watched the first dozen or so episodes a handful of times until I decided to give it a real shot and ended up really enjoying it.

I searched for a duplicate thread and couldn't find one with this question.

I agree with your decision with Bleach. I still haven't caught up with

all those episodes but it has a great story!!!!

I also think Full Metal Alchemist (but god not bortherhood... -_- )

I liked brotherhood

I waited a long time to watch Naruto.
Call me crazy but I wasn't sure I would like it.

Now I'm an addict.

Time of Eve and Nodame Cantible are the first things that come to mind for me.

I waited til the chuunin exams. Somebody posted a amv of rock lee and garaa and I started watching it and haven't stopped since. I love the show. And the crazy thing is, having watched it for so long I can admit it's terrible and corny in spots but I still can't help but love it. And god hate them filler episodes. lol

I think brotherhood just confusing in the beginning
because it didnt fit with the manga at all and then all of a sudden BAM it went into the
structure of the manga.

And it had a lot of fillerish material other than that the series was ok.

Ohh gosh Naruto, it took so long and so many fillers but it was so worth it since Naruto Shippuden

is AWESOME

I'd be one of those fans that enjoy fma over brotherhood. From my own perspective I can only say that FMA was a really special anime for me because it brought me back into the anime world. It was one of the first animes I realized how complex an anime can be. And it wasn't that complex, honestly. Not since exploring other animes but I digress.

Since a lot of specific moments in the original fma had significant impact on me on an emotional scale I was excited to see brotherhood but brotherhood's tone was slightly different and the same scenes that I loved before were slightly different. (Hughes for one) So while I still loved brotherhood just because it was a chance to watch a recreation of the story (and more accurate to the manga, or so I'm told.) It didn't have the same impact for me since the first experience was so different. And of course, hearing a story for the first time is always the most a story intrigues you.

I totally agree with that. When I first started watching anime I would watch semi shojoish anime. I got really tired of watching those of anime and reading those kind of manga. When I was introduced to Death Note, Bleach, FML ect I just got hooked and never looked back.

FML just stands out to me more than Brotherhood

Princess Tutu. i held out for so long because I can't take a title with the word "tutu" in it seriously, but it was amazing show and is now one of my favorites.
Also, One Piece because it's hard to catch up since I'm so far behind.
