Wow talk about a haters thread here. I love SAO. I think its ranked up there at one of my top 10 favorite anime series. I'm a huge gamer girl so I just love the series concept. Wish we had that technology T_T

Overall, I really liked SAO because it's an anime I can really relate to (minus the whole death game from the first season). I'll admit that the ALO arc wasn't as great as the first, but the danger was still there although in another form (race against time instead of fighting for your life).

A lot of people got bent out of shape just because the main characters cousin was in love with him (OMG IT HAS INCEST!!! Does nobody remember great incest animes like Yosuga no Sora or Kiss x Sis?? In comparison SAO has nothing on these two).

Overall I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Pros - Good animation, music, voice acting.

Cons - Weird pacing (sometimes too fast, other times too slow, and things randomly came and went during the season)

Extra note - The whole "Gary Stu" excuse a lot of people brings up bothers me. People seem to forget that in games there are always amazing players that have insane reaction times and know so much about the game they could literally walk around using the weakest weapon and still wreck people using the best equipment.

It makes engineers look like idiots for being unable to remove a battery. It makes computer programmers look like idiots for being unable to hack into a video game. It makes all governments look like idiots for being unable to organize a rescue effort.

Admit it, this was badly done.

Dealing with people's minds is an easy thing right? Oh and if they mess up the nervegear fries the person's brain so yeah go ahead and have them mess with the thing

Matter of opinion from a person that is jaded from how the series went post-ep. 15 pardon me for not jumping in line with that opinion

Wow... I thought the show was halfway decent... I guess I wasnt paying much attention... heh...

Concept was cool, but everything about the execution was pretty shit. I don't understand why people seem to like it so much. Maybe the MC was so void of personality that it had the "silent protagonist effect", making it easy for viewers to project themselves on him. Which I guess explains the fan base. That must be it.

If the headgear was tampered with in any way, it would send powerful microwaves into the wearer's brain and frying it. The system in place was created to always evolve and learn. Also there were 10,000 people stuck in the game, assuming all from one country, if the government screwed up those 10,000 people were gone FOREVER. Also if you didn't pay attention the government moved all players into hospitals in order for them to be kept alive. Remember, they were trapped in there for years.

I didn't let the hype get to me, I didn't even know this show was being hyped to those levels when I first saw it, I just thought "hey this looks cool, I wanna watch it"

I liked the show...all 25 eps
*GASP!*
I must have terrible taste in anime
of wait, that's an opinion isn't it, though it must be the wrong opinion if its not the same with "vocal majority"...

seriously, this is exactly like another thread with basically the same premise but worded differently. It all becomes a "let's all show how much we dislike SAO because it's bad and you shouldn't enjoy/like it"

wait a minute, my bad, this topic is slightly different, it also has "My opinion of the show is justified, this anime is horrible because other people have also shown that they dislike it as well"

Government probably started to care because this was 10,000 counts of kidnapping/attempted murder with over 2000 successful murders.

Doesn't really seem like a job for local law enforcement.

Everyday 12.000 people are dying from starvation. I'am still unimpressed by only 2.000 confirmed kills

Lol, point taken. Yet on the other hand, would you rather a mass-murderer/kidnapper run free or have it looked into?

It's hard for this anime to fade into obscurity when threads like this keep popping up reminding everyone that SAO existed. Personally I liked it.

So, the Japanese call in the American CIA and the CIA works with our allies around the clock and breaks those guys out in a week.

We've done similar things for other countries before, why wouldn't we for Japan?

That argument is SERIOUSLY flawed if you think we can't safely remove a battery because OH NOES MICROWAVES.

Oh boy, I can even figure out how on Wikipedia!
