If it doesn't happen, then it's possible that it didn't work. If you don't wish for something to happen, and it happens, you are completely unprepared for it. If you pray for something to happen and it happens, you are ready to move on to the next thing right away. Overall, it doesn't hurt to wish or pray, but not having that hope for the future may ruin a good thing
