I was always told to "wish in one hand and _____ in the other. See which one fills up first". You want something you have to work for it.

What is work?

Are you playing jeopardy to fill the blank?

My answer
What is hippopotamus.

the host reads: ''Wish in one hand and hippopotamus in the other?'' ''That is incorrect, are you stupid?''

me: ''NOOOOOOO, i was so close with that one, throw me a bone.''

Wow, i really went rogue with that bit.

What?

It works by changing your own will and mindset. The more you pray, the more you think about something you want and how badly you want it, the more likely you become to try to get what you want.

I really appreciate the point you are making, but God didn't give us modern medicine. Modern medicine was developed slowly, painfully, and with many mistakes and a lot of carnage. We are still learning from our mistakes, but those lessons are paid for by the health and lives of people.
The development of modern medicine can be compared to evolution by natural selection - the strategy that works gets to live.
Some proven highly successful strategies:
1) washing your hands with soap and water
2) vaccines (especially childhood vaccines)
3) antibiotics (properly used)
4) access to contraception and reproductive care for women

Yes, I agree, anything you can do to prevent disease and sickness, please do. Just as I do.

But what I meant is...God gave us the minds to create these medicines and vaccines.
I also believe that some people's purpose in this life is to "become" a physician or scientist so that they "can" help God save lives and show others how to live healthy lives(and stay away from harm)

Plus,we are only human,we can't do anything without making mistakes, which leads to the deaths of many people, but if you'd subtract the lives lost from the lives saved from these medicines, you'd see the difference is astounding!

Thank You and God Bless

I'm going to play the Devil's Advocate here. If we accept that God gave us the minds to create medicine and vaccines. Then he also gave us the minds to create horrific pathogens, chemical warfare, nuclear weapons. If we accept that some peoples purpose is that to become a healer then some peoples purpose is to become a destroyer. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Religion brought people together. Religion was responsible for much pain and suffering. It would seem that such dualities are the warp and woof of the human experience. I'm not sure if it is right to attribute the good to a higher power without also attributing the bad.

Very interesting...
The way I see it,no body is considered good according to the Word of God. Our righteousness is like fifthly rags.. Even when we are on our best behavior,we're still sinners. Even Christians suffer because of mans nature and it's called sin,and we NEED God in our lives. HE is the only one who can rid of this wickedness, and with the free will God has given us to make our own decisions,we can do very bad things with it.
It's hard to explain, but it's just different for Christians. God loves each of his children, including the ones who have yet to accept him. God gave us each a gift and it is OUR choice whether we accept it or not,and once we truly accept him on our heart of hearts,we WANT to do right, and we want to do as God would have us do. When you become a Christian, you GIVE your life fully over to God,and although you still have that free will, you choose to let God lead you,ask him and let him lead you in every decision in life.
I KNOW that God is now in control of my life and no matter where I am or what seems to be happening,God knows what he is doing, and as long as I am trying my best to follow him, everything will be right and good....always.

Satan WILL try to pull you away from righteousness, and it's up to you who you will follow.

I don't know if you're asking out of curiosity or what, but I pray that I can reach out to someone through all of this.Even if not in a spiritual way.(though that would be my preference) but as I said,God knows what he is doing, and I feel I needed to write this.
I HATE religious disputes. I am not even religious,I am just a follower of Christ. I usually don't even participate, but I really just felt the need to share what I believe.

Any other questions or if I need to specify, please let me know.

Prayer definitely works! ^.^

I've been a Christ follower for about two and a half years, and I've learned a lot through my walk with Christ to understand what it means to pray about something and the outcome of it. I think that prayer must first be entirely genuine from the deepest core of an individual's being. And even if that is so, the prayer may still not be answered, because God doesn't answer prayers that are against his will for a person's life.
For example, if you pray to be accepted into a certain university, and you're denied, it's probably not God's will.

Also, you can't just pray for something without putting any effort in yourself. Like "please God help me pass my exam tomorrow" and you don't even study! It just doesn't make sense, lol!

Prayer's honestly a beautiful thing though, to be able to share a relationship with the great creator of it all, wow!
