Praying and wishing won't work unless you take action.

There was this one time where I prayed to win this raffle, and I did win. That was when I started to believe that God was real...haha how dumb was I

Hahahahah! Not when I do it. It only works when I work for it. If it did oh boy the things I would do.

When people gather together to pray for a united cause God listens. He won't always give us what we want but a united people, praying for something important to them will be answered. You do realize that Japan isn't 100% christian right? There are other forms of religion that exist within Japan. Especially in 1998...So it's almost impossible for the entire nation to have united. Also. Not 100% of the Japanese population care about the Olympics. I could go on and list many more fallacies within that statement but that would just be mean. Oh using your logic. For generations those who hated the Jews for betraying Christ prayed for something terrible to occur to them. Adolf Hitler the prophet answered the call and the Holocaust came to be. Who cares? God answers ANYONE with faith in deity regardless of their religion. Also God answers those prayers of the faithful which are righteous. Praying for snow? Good thing. God will answer. Praying to murder people? Bad thing. God will not answer. Why is that hard to understand? Good and Evil are subjective terms. Maybe God views the extermination of Jews as a good thing. Clearly God is a man full of contradictions. All Good, All Powerful, All Knowing? Please |

None of that REALLY works. You have to make some things happen and some things happen on their own regardless if you wish or pray

Nobody is bound within the system. It is always your choice to be in whatever level of awareness. This philosophy is just an excuse that justifies social inequality. You are suffering, so therefore you chose/deserve it. I am fortunate, so therefore I chose/deserve it. If you don't fight it, then things will get better (later). It is fatalistic and encourages lack of responsibility and compassion - in other words, it justifies social stratification. Stratification. +1 |

I can't speak for everyone, but I do believe prayer works. There have been a number of times I have prayed for personal issues and had that answered. I also believe that all prayer can be answered, but sometimes the answer is no or the answer is not at this time. I have also found that prayer (as a means to communication with God) is a good stress reliever for me. I try to have prayers of thanks to remind myself of the many things I'm blessed to have. As a Christian this works for me, but I know you don't have to believe in a higher power to let it help, just taking the time to remind yourself of the positives in your life to balance out personal stress that happens over time. Again, I know not everyone has this view, but personally I think prayer works.

Making stuff up is certainly not helping you any. |

Only if you believe in these things. If I pray for something and it comes true then I can correlate my prayers to the result. But likewise if it does not then I need to either 1) Look to God and conclude that I was not meant to attain this prayer (if I am a believer) or 2) Dismiss the idea of prayers as a pipe dream and work hard for what I want to attain (my goals)
