How do you feel about using an actual photo of yourself vs just one of your favorite pics/characters?
For example, right now mine is Hobbes from Calvin and Hobbes because he is my favorite childhood comic character. He is also my profile pic for other sites like youtube. But on my twitter and facebook I have an actual picture of myself as my profile pic.
Is there any special meaning behind your current profile picture?
Do you feel sites that are less personal allow you to pretend to be whoever you want in your profile pic?
Is there any reasons or insecurities that you have that prevent you from using an actual picture of yourself?
(For me, the only picture I have of myself is the typical mirror phone shot and I look like a bit of a douche.)
Or were you just like "Meh, whatever" with your current picture?

Lets my current picture is Fushimi from the Project K Anime and one of the few remaining long aviis on the site [I feel so special <3]
Planning to change it for the next anime season. I don't mind using my real photo as I'm confident in my looks but why do I need people to check me out in the 1st place in the forums =3=

My avie is me  We have the freedom to choose whatever avatar we want to represent us as long as we
are not hurting or making other people uncomfortable. Sometimes my avie is not my actual picture but this
time it's me because I think its quirky just like my experience here!:D |

Idk, I kinda feel like it has to do with the community. Yeah I can have a pic of myself up here, but I already do that on facebook. This feels like more of place where you can let your fantasies and imagination run wild and just have fun with other people doing the same thing.
I chose my avatar simply because I found Pesche and his ways freaking hilarious.

I think its fine to use your own picture on social networks that are designed to interact about reality. On sites like this where we interact as anime fans its more suitable to use an anime picture. Still your free to use whatever you want.

I do use a picture of myself as an avitar, who we are, is what we think, what we believe or like is what we use to represent ourselves in out profile pictures or avitars, weather its our favorite cartoon character, a picture of ourselves, or some other sentimental object.
