It actually seems very likely that it could mean exactly that.

I've got more modest hopes, that they are happy with a one week exclusive stream period and don't do a TAN with a selection of series where they have the only legit streams. Then at least Crunchyroll might get worldwide rights for six to nine simulcasts a season as part of a package deal, even if they are delayed a week.

In any event, it'll add more uncertainty as we try to guess which series are going to end up on Crunchyroll in the Spring ~ for several of these companies, we've been able to say Crunchyroll has a better than 50:50 chance if they end up handling internatinal distribution.

They are mentioning titles like One Piece, PMMM(which is North America only on CR) and Prince of Tennis. We also don't know what "overseas" means.

I get the impression that we now know ~ I can't find it now, but I saw someone asked a question to them and they answered via email they'll be worldwide outside of Japan. Since people in Japan have said the site is region blocked, it seems like if you can get to the site without tricks, you'll be able to watch the anime.

Which is the difference in having the original international licensors do it: they have all rights outside of Japan except for what they have given exclusively to somebody else, rather than only a set of countries explicitly given to them.

I sort of wonder if someone like Anime on Demand shouldn't be more nervous than the North America streaming sites since I imagine there is a lot of room to stream to Europe and Australia for titles that are even only a few years old.

Yes, with the catalog they'll be able to put up, at the cost they'll have to cover for catalog titles with no contracting costs, combined with 6-9 automatic simulcast rights carved out of any international home video license negotiations from the outset, it seems like Anime-On-Demand might just have to pack it in unless they can reach a deal with Fuji TV for the noitaminA block and add get some stability to their lineup.

Devil Survivor 2 is confirmed for late-night April 4th. Broadcast time will either be 25:30 or 26:00 since it is in the Animeism block.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-03-02/devil-survivor-2-anime-event-reveals-livetune-opening-3ds-game

FansubDB already has that for April 4th.

We have another Summer anime confirmed Gen'ei o Kakeru Taiyou
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-03-02/genei-o-kakeru-taiyo-anime-promo-cast-july-debut-revealed

And we now know that Fairy Tail is at least "on hiatus"
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-03-02/fairy-tail-anime-tv-run-to-end-on-march-30

Likely it's pulling a Gintama and will be off the air for six months. Of course, it being like Bleach and cancelled is also a possibility.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199) was deleted from the Spring 2013 list at FansubDB.

http://fansubdb.com/w/index.php?title=Spring_2013&curid=766&diff=6140&oldid=6139:

(Removed Yamato 2199. It's not a new series, it's just a re-airing of some OVAs and movies that came out last year.)

How can you have a "re-airing" of something that is being shown on TV for the first time? OVAs and movies? The movies (there were no OVAs) are still coming out, with the 5th one due the same month the series premieres, which is definitely not "last year", and the fourth film premiered in January of this year.

It is going to air. The contributor to FansubDB (which is a wiki) simply removed it from the list because it wasn't a "new" series in their opinion.

Sorry I was confused. I didn't realize anyone cared about what the illegal titlers were doing. So long as it's airing that's all I care about. Well.. that and hoping CR picks it up. Thanks

I disagree with their reasoning for a lot of the same reasons that you do. I suppose it is consistent with them not listing the TV airing of Ebiten or Seitokai no Ichizon Lv. 2 but Yamato 2199 is still ongoing even when it airs the stuff previously shown as Movies(or on BD). Yamato 2199 is also a huge title(since it is a remake of a classic. And I am saying this as someone who has the complete first season of Star Blazers(the dub of the original Yamato) on DVD).

@ Arsenette. FansubDB is a good resource for keeping track of every new anime and when it premieres. As I am loath to use fansubs, I don't really use their information that much (I may reconsider that for Miyakawa-ke no Kuufuku if there is a fansub that I can get and there isn't news of a TV airing). As to Yamato 2199, there is a likelihood that nobody will stream because of Voyager (who distributes the Star Blazers stuff). I'd say Funimation is the next likeliest because they licensed a recent Yamato movie last year(it came out a few years back).

EDIT: Moetron has added a few season 2s: Kuro Majo-san ga Tooru!! 2 April 3rd at 6:20 pm JST on NHK-E, Tanken Driland New Series taking Fairy Tail's timeslot starting April 6 at 10:30 a.m JST on TV Tokyo, and Chibi☆Devi! New Series on April 8th at 6:20 pm JST on NHK-E

FansubDB and Countdown also have Koitabi ~True Tours Nanto which is a TV special that airs on April 28th

Agreed it's definitely is not a re-airing. Nor is it an old series. If the theatrical and BD/DVD releases are consistent, the last movie will not be in theaters until mid-October and vol. 7 of the BD/DVD releases sometime in November or December. At that time, the TV airing will just be in the beginning/middle of it's 2nd cours.

Ah understood. LOL I have the original Star Blazers on VHS.. finished the set JUST as the DVD's came out.. groan.. I never went and bought the set again on DVD. I'd LOVE to see the whole thing remastered and loved the series previews (some while back they had parts 1 and 2 the first 10 minutes and I swear I fangasmed..)

Good news. Not surprised by this, but hope that Crunchyroll get the UK rights as well.

At least it seems that Daisuki isn't going to interfere with Crunchyroll in North America as far as Aniplex goes. I think it will be "Major English-speaking Countries" like the other major Aniplex ones. I will be interesting to see if Daisuki streams that to the countries that normally don't get the big Aniplex series(like Latin America, and most of Europe).

I was very happy to hear this news(and this would be the 2nd simulcast announcement for Spring since we already knew about Girls und Panzer getting episode 11 and 12 streamed).
