Attack on Titan confirmed as 25 episodes if you want to update the count:

Not exactly a confirmation. Although looking at number of episodes released through DVD/BD will usually be a good educated guess and be correct. Numbers has changed before when seasons and volumes were added to series that has no actual confirmed numbers.

What kind of confirmation are you looking for? That's the official site for the show. For this season there will be nine volumes with 25 episodes. Unless production is late and they need to make some .5 episodes which aren't real episodes I don't see any chance for any other number.

If there is another season, well, of course there will be more episodes and volumes but not for this season.

Edit: Could still announce some OVAs which won't be aired I suppose.

Whether it's the official site or not is totally irrelevant. They don't necessarily release all DVD/BD info all at once. And FYI, a season can be anything from 3 to 65 episodes. What you see on the site could very well be only for 1/2 a season's worth.

But as I said earlier, that will probably be the correct total. Regardless, it is still a guess and not an actual confirmation.

The $1,000 to $2,000 was MG's when Crunchyroll had 100,000 subscribers. Crunchyroll's subscriber base doubled in the last six months. And those are minimum guaranteed royalties, so whether or not the MG has risen in the past two seasons, the total royalties paid out will have risen.

Also worth noting that the value of the Yen has decreased significantly over the last six months, so a $1000 minimum guarantee last summer was only worth 80,000 yen compared to 100,000 today -- in other words, even if CR hasn't increased the MG, it's still worth 25% more to the Japanese. And the Japanese government says they plan to lower the yen even further, which is more good news for us.

Pretty sure that 25 episodes in this series would have to be two broadcast seasons, since a Japanese broadcast season lasts for roughly three months, just like real seasons in the real world last for roughly three months.

Of course, some people say that in French, because some people can't grasp the idea that the Japanese use seasons in something very close to the literal sense, which is to say, Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.

ANN appears to agree this means the series will be 25 episodes:

Yes, "courses", to cope with the fact that anime DVD distributors boxed us into a corner, calling series "seasons" and calling titles "series", so we were short a word for an actual broadcast season.

Yes, by referring to the same page I referred to! LOL Somehow if ANN refers to a page it is considered confirmation but if I list it then it is not... I need to ask one of these news aggregators if I can volunteer to post articles for them so I can get some cred or something...

Lots of dead horses to beat these days but IMO, not that it counts for anything, if it is 25 episodes then it is a season. If it is 12 episodes in season 1 and 13 episodes in season 2 then it is two seasons. AKB0048 for example I would be willing to consider one season as they started NEXT Stage with episode 14 and ended it with episode 26 though that is an example of a split cours... anime keeps us jumping, that's for sure.

A chance so infinitely small it's effectively zero. Funimation don't do UK streaming, and even if AoD are still around, they've never had Funimation sub-licenses

Animeondemand are still around, although I would not say they are thriving.
They have had a promotion on for a long time now where everything is free in HD and there is a fairly old news bulletin saying that once the promo ends there will be a supposed revamp of some sort.

Apart from the stuff that appears on the US Crunchyroll anyway the only worthwhile stuff they get is stuff Sentai got.

Anime On Demand has gone two seasons with no revenue. I don't see them surviving for much longer. Especially when they still haven't announced a single simulcast for this season.

Other than series they outbid Crunchyroll for last season, they stream the series that KZPLAY streams with French subtitles in France. Kaze hasn't put up a Spring streaming season yet, and only had three simulcasts in Fall ~ the two TAN exclusive simulcasts and Magi continuing from Fall 2012.

Since it looks like they are not outbidding Crunchyroll in the UK anymore (fingers crossed), we are first waiting to see whether TAN announces any exclusives for Spring 2013, and after that whether AoD streams those.

If they could have got just the series that TAN picked up as exclusives and combined them with UK/France rights for series that Funimation picks up, they might have been able to put something together, but outbidding Crunchyroll for UK rights doesn't seem to have worked out for them.

I did find it slightly annoying that they were outbidding for CR shows that we would have gotten here in the UK had they not stuck their noses in.
I don't pay attention to region restrictions anyway so I have no reason to use their crappy site.

Yes, that was definitely not the way to win friends and influence people. Getting licenses that otherwise wouldn't get to a UK streaming license is one thing. Diverting series from a site that still offers a broader UK simulcast selection and a deeper UK catalog than you can just annoys people.
