You know I think this could stem from two things Crunchyroll is getting large enough that companies can't ignore it and Sword Art Online. Crunchyroll must have made so much money for Aniplex on SAO that MBS and TBS took notice and told Kodansha about it. Thus Crunchyroll could not be ignored.

Gargantia is going pretty strong too.

But SAO was worldwide, this isn't.

Well, torrents do come out faster and with better quality when CR gets something, so I guess I should be happy.

Whilst Crunchyroll has provided Aniplex with free advertising for SAO, I'm not sure they've got anything monetary wise from it yet. Looking around on the Aniplex website, I don't think pre-orders are even available yet.

It's certainly a bolt from the blue. Funimation have been very aggressive this quarter, licensing Attack on Titan, Red Data Girl, Date A Live, Karneval and the Devil is a Part Timer. Whilst they licensed six titles in Fall 2012, I think the only two noteworthy ones were Psycho-Pass and Robotics Notes. I only remember Onii-an because it was so damn terrible. Kamisama Kiss sticks in my head because of the title, and it and the other two seem to have drifted into the graveyard of forgotten titles.

I doubt it's purely from an advertising angle, since it's only one title though, so some kind of special deal must have been struck. It's been mentioned before that Bleach and Naruto were the two titles that really drove the majority of traffic here. With Bleach on hiatus, and the success of SAO, maybe Crunchyroll is now prepared to push the boat out more on a single shonen fighting title in order to get the traffic.

FUNimation hasn't shown episode 2 yet because it doesn't air in Japan for another 4-and-a-half hours.

True enough so I should have said if Funimation will get it on Saturdays. I guess what I mean is that Funimation doesn't actually show AoT on their weekly schedule yet so I don't know how late their simulcast will be. On Sunday same as Crunchyroll or earlier or later? Still a mystery. Would be nice if Funimation showed it on Saturday as I finally decided to sign up for their Elite and then I find out AoT will be on Crunchyroll, LOL! Ah well, they recently fixed their ads after not having ads most of the time last season on their free memberships so with me watching a few of their shows it will be nice to get them ad free and in HD assuming it works...

Their schedule doesn't show Railgun S yet either... Sophie get it together!

Yeah I was just over there getting increasingly aggravated with their PoS website. I didnt see either show on their schedule yet, but I went there looking to watch railgun. That site is such a disappointment. funi evs sub canceled.
