Try using a bronchodilator. I know Primatene Mist is off the market but there is some nebulizer type product sold over the counter. Why doctors don't give prescriptions for alupent (metaproerenol) or something similar with antibiotics I've never figured out. One primary key to clearing a respiratory infection is getting appropriate amounts of air/oxygen into your lungs. But get to the emergency room.

Never had pneumonia.

But I had haemorraghic tonsilitis before and nothing was stopping my fever so I just checked myself into a hospital and they put IV antiobiotic in me and I instantly got better.

If you feel like you're not getting any better, it's better to check yourself into a hospital asap.

I'm doing a lot better now thankfully, I still have a heavy cough, I decided to ask on CR's forums since you can get good advice from others with experience.

I have had Pneumonia multiple times in my life and it sucks. It feels like your dieing at times and it takes forever for the stupid antibiotics to start working, but you eventually bounce back most of the time.

When symptoms persist after you have seen and consulted a doctor. Better get your self admitted and treated at the hospital for pneumonia may lead to emphysema and other upper or lower respiratory infections. As of now, better have a complete bed rest, take your due meds on time, eat the right food most preferably non-sticky and clear foods and increase fluid intake.

Pneumonia quite simply, sucks. It will knock you right off your feet. When I had it, I needed two rounds of antibiotics and an inhaler to get through it. Don't take over the counter cough suppressants and stuff for Cold/Flu as that can raise your blood pressure and make things even worse. To help yourself breath better, a doctor might suggest using a vaporizer as well. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and keep your Vitamin C up as well.

Also, look up what antibiotics you are taking. Some food, drink, or other medicines can affect how well the antibiotics work.
