Come join us in the wonderful world of windows (not necessarily Windows)! :) Hahah, I can't believe you pointed that out. I thought that after posting it. I'm pretty great at using the correct tense in my sentences, aren't I? It's actually difficult for me not to notice grammar (or spelling) issues. Even in books, which are supposedly edited by professionals, I still tend to find such without trying, they just jump out at me. Just the same, I really didn't mean to be a grammar Nazi; it's something I try to avoid, because I know my own grammar isn't perfect. Besides, most people don't proofread their forum posts, because they're smarter than me and manage their time better. I wasn't certain, though, that you *didn't* mean you were still using DOS. I figured, some people still run/emulate DOS to use old software, maybe this guy really is still using it, horrible as it is to contemplate. I figured, maybe you have an interesting argument for using DOS. I'm kinda glad to find that you aren't though. |

I built my first computer in '96 and let me tell you that it was a LOT harder to build them then. Windows 95 was barely any help when you had to set jumpers on the sound card and modem just to avoid conflicts with everything else in the system. Sigh, I don't miss those days.

- First computer in 1981 (Apple II). No hard-drive. Had to save data to a cassette tape.
- "Programmed" a TRS-80 to run basic adventure games (command line adventures). - Punch card programming mid-1980's (sucked). - Bought Mac SE/30 in 1989. Hooked it to the Internet via college ISP (Telnet, USENET, FTP, etc...) - Started a computer animation business. - Bought, and still have, a couple of UNIX boxes (Silicon Graphics (SGI)) to run Wavefront and Alias. - Bought three Macs and a couple of PCs from 1995-2002 to support my UNIX "farm"/FX biz. - Sold my business. Retired. - Still have the SGIs, four Macs and three PCs kicking in the basement. Have no idea what I'll do with the UNIX boxes. |
